0:59 Pause video, put on .25X speed, click timestamp. Now allow it to go ahead a couple of frames and pause. Primary point of contact is shoulder to the head, then exploding in an upward direction. Loved this kid the first week, now all i see is his inability to control his huge frame and continuously make stupid choices putting player's careers at risk. @kriticalityTRP
11 күн бұрын
I do think this is a slightly misleading take. The elbow was tucked, contact was made with a tucked shoulder at high velocity. Defender does need to keep himself in a position not to be clobbered. I argue that the hit was so big that Rempes arm hit van Riemsdyks shoulder, then rempe's shoulder hit head because of the momentum. There was head contact but I don't see it as principal or intended. He just wanted to throw the body and he did so. Also the exploding outward is not applicable in this regard. Exploding outward after a hit is acceptable, exploding outward to make the hit is not acceptable. There will be a career ended by this man. But in the meantime I enjoy a powerhouse of a hit.
@TheSnapback
11 күн бұрын
Yeah you're not getting it. He did not raise his elbows, he went for the body. That's the first thing. The second thing is that van Riemsdyk put himself in a vulnerable position. Read rule 48.1, both of those things are reasons the hit can be considered legal. These are just big hits that are a part of playoff hockey, they are seen all the time but again this just has to do with his reputation. Saying he "targets the heads of players" is so insanely wrong, he goes for the body and since he's big sometimes there can be head contact. Doesn't matter since he is going for the body, if the player puts themselves in a bad position that's their fault.

So exhausting all of these people who just don’t understand what an elbow is, what a late hit is, or what a headshot is. A. There is a timeframe, after getting rid of the puck, when a player is still eligible to be hit. I’d say this one was borderline but not egregiously late and in the playoffs especially is fine. B. His arm was tucked at the time of the hit. And extending arm after contact is normal and is not an elbow anyway shape or form. C. Shocker, a players head can be contacted as long as it’s not the soul or principle point of contact. Both Rempe’s and Panarin’s hits were not. Through the body, even if head contact was part of that.
@bealburner890

They just need a quick series, even 5 games. Those 7 game series were our downfall 2 years ago against TB. But at this point just close out Washington and get rested for Carolina, who should finish off the Asslanders.

Sure was nice for NY that Washington kept giving them a 5 on 4 every time Ovi is on the Ice.

Knew Caps would crap the bed. They werent really that good this year. I feel Pens would have probably met the same fate but woulda been more competitive

it was a clean hit and not late, bad call on ref's part. WSH has no answer to Rempe

Anytime a d-man makes the reverse pass play, the player can leave himself vulnerable. Unfortunately, a train was coming. Two minutes for being big.

That Rempe hit was clean asf, the Panarin hit was dirtier i atill think it was a good hit. I have no stakes in any of these games in a pens fan very neutral both hits were clean its playoff hockey

I'm thinking Vegas vs Florida again in the final. Obvious pick, I know. As a NJD fan I watched my team struggle with the "how to win" learning curve this year. For example, they often beat good teams and lost to bad teams. They have a long road. Vegas and Florida are veteran teams, built for this, and they have figured out what it takes.

REMPE has learn to keep his elbows IN AND DOWN LIKE PETER MAHOVOLICH had to . Being tall can be a curse with skates on 🤔

He did have his elbows in. He does have to learn how to hit lower. Everything hip checks because they're shoulder checks on the opponent.

When Chytil is ready, Rempe is clearly the odd one out

Chytil has been out for 6 months. Personally, I don’t think he plays unless Wennberg is more injured than is told. Brodz may even start before Chytil. I think Lav pulls the leash back on Rempe some more and tells him to avoid most big hits. His presence on the ice alone as a skater is enough to tilt the ice. The team has only won with him in the lineup.

@@HarrisonHollers Canes are way less physical of a team so I could see him starting against them. If he's 100% I don't see why not, especially if the doctors say he's fine. He might have not played in a while but he still takes part in practice, he might come back sooner than you think.

Chytil coming in now is too severe a change for the lineup. I don’t see how it would make any sense at this point.

The Rangers didn't take too many penalties, the refs outright did their darndest to keep Washington in the game. 5-6 calls were complete nonsense.

The only people who think the Rempe hit was dirty are caps fans, you know, the ones who believe Tom Wilson can do no wrong. 😂

On the MSG feed you could hear someone yelling at TVR, you know Rempe is out there, he dumped the puck and was looking at his skates. All things you are taught not to do, he had speed to get around the net and the check wouldve missed or Rempe's big goofy ass would've lost his edge. The refs in the series have been terrible. Soft calls on both sides and missed calls on both sides, obviously they'll target the Rangers more because they have more physical players but 2nd round better not be like this

I'm not sure if I'd call that a penalty or not. It was a big hit by Rempe, but he didn't really jump, and the principle point of contact wasn't the head. Honestly, his lower body hit Van Riemsdyk in the lower body first and he started to fall backwards. Rempe slammed into the glass, and didn't hit Van Riemsdyk in the head or even the upper body for the most part.

Hank explained that early shesty goal, it hit a stick on its way so it had a weird path and just…didn’t go where it should have? It looks so bad if u don’t see the stick contact. Anyways, the second this game started I was like yeah…this one’s boring isn’t it.
