We've all gotten wise to Vaush's schtick of being wordy, "edgy," and making Nazi comparisons, so a lot of that has lost its novelty. His "jokes" dont land for the most part, nor can he take jokes. Leftist groupthink can make anyone seem intelligent if all that matters to you is consensus; just look at how anyone took Hasan seriously on the issue of socialism, when he's literally a rich boy like Carlos Maza who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Almost all of the known quantities on the online left sphere, with the possible exception of Destiny, are so far up their own keisters it's little wonder they immediately fall apart the moment they speak to a normal person or engage with actual reality. Vaush's discussion with BJG is like sleeping in the night before your own wedding, showing up just barely on time wearing sneakers, faded cargo pants, and some random T-shirt with a meme logo on the front, and thinking that everything will go off without a hitch. At least Destiny's smart enough to know that it's a very bad idea to go on the big boy channels and networks being who and what he is, because very quickly the higher level that they operate at, which neither he nor Vaush has any real understanding of, will make them look like idiots. Don't get me wrong, Destiny's a smart guy, but he's the kid in the room at the major debates, because the people he'd go up against are known for actual things, not shit talking people while playing Factorio. Vaush did not approach this like a mature adult trying to engage in good faith debate: he approached it like it was his stream, where he'd be conversing with one of the 14 year old CoD players he calls his audience.

He just pretends that no one except him makes rational arguments ever as an excuse to not debate them, when in the past he'd talk to anyone from 16 year old schizoposter to university professors. He tries to add a political slant on shit like video games and anime, none of the shit we originally subscribed for, as an excuse to just talk about anime and video games. I wish he'd just admit that hes lost interest or gotten lazy but he just makes up more excuses. He could at least talk more about Ukraine... instead of trying to "debate" Ukranian people over stupid shit that hes said. Theres so much shit that he could be doing if he just had the energy. Theres a chance he'd be welcome on fresh and fit or any other redpill podcast. He could easily research and debunk several stupid redpill arguments and ""studies"" that they parade around out of context, considering that he has a vested interested in "positive role models for men" but he just doesnt even acknowledge them because he cant be bothered.

But going down this route is a mistake (and Destiny does it too), it becomes an endless trial on the moral character of people, which I think is sort of a dead end - and we see this in comments sections across youtube, the debate becomes around whether creator x is a 'gigantic piece of shit' or not...and I'm not sure how much that matters (outside of personal connections they may have)

This is my first time watching Destiny talk about overtly political stuff as opposed to societal issues, and as someone who follows BJG pretty closely, it's astounding how all Destiny's nuance and ability to steel man his opponents flies right out the window here. In fact it's so blatant and out of character from what I usually see out of his arguments, I can't help but wonder if he's a psyop for the liberal establishment. I started as a Vaush fan. Well I still consider myself one tbh, I still enjoy his content when he puts in some effort or falls within his sphere of knowledge. But this is pretty disappointing of a performance. Vaush's problem is that he has cultivated a community where no one really pushes back on him. His take is the right take, and if you're not you're a fascist. Or a nazi. As Destiny put it at 8:10 I think the lack of "normal" people he interacts with is a huge reason why in these type of debates he looks so poorly. Like in that clip when he answered the how to prepare for a debate, where he says he's so right that you just need surface level knowledge and rhetoric. That might have been the case in 2016 or post-gamer gate, but that doesn't cut it anymore. If he can't even handle a conversation with BJG, he would probably get obliterated by a Nick Fuentes or a Lauren Southern. Really hope he takes the criticism to heart and puts in some sort of effort next time, even if it's just for when you're going to be talking to someone with BJG's platform, who is like 2 layers removed from Tucker Carlson. That's a big get for him, and he pissed it away.

I've unironically heard more about Vaush on Chudlogic's videos than Destiny's. Sure I think Destiny likes watching Vaush fuck up, I'm sure it's funny to him given the history. But the main reason is that BJG is a bigger figure and this was decent stream content while playing Factorio in the background, and Destiny knows the fans wanted to see it.
