As a little white girl in Florida, growing up in the 40s and 50s, I recall these terrible attitudes toward the black people. My momma hated it as a white lady. One time I asked my Gdad why he only took his car to a certain shop. He told me back in the days of Jim crow this particular shop, owned by the father of the man that owns it now, was the only auto repair and gas station in that area of the city that would do business with black people. The other business owners and some police officers harassed him and a two other business owners that refused to shut out black people daily. There were threats to firebomb their businesses. Those business men camped out at their businesses every night to protect it from racists. After a week went b with these men not going home to their families my Gdad said him and several other men some black, some white took turns protecting those businesses so those men could go home to their families. They stood their ground till it died down and the white supremacists backed down. When good people stick together it makes a difference. Sometime in a small way, sometimes in a major way.

My father always did more business with black men who worked out of their homes than taking his trucks to a repair shop, or calling a plumber. Bricklayers, you name it. He did it not out of sympathy, but respect and love. He essentially did everything he could to help support more black families than anyone I’ve ever known and I’ve done my best to emulate his legacy. He hired black men who were disabled yet worked harder than anyone else ever would’ve had he given some young kid the chance. He was loyal to them, and it was greatly reciprocated. I loved my father more than anything and the most important life lessons he ever taught me weren’t ever taught by words, but with his own actions.

Lol standing up against racism is different from trusting people with your personal problems. There’s no such thing as a vibe. Plenty of people who look innocent, will stab you in the back irrespective of their skin colour. There are black people who are stabbed by black people. Overweight people stabbed by overweight people. Poor people stabbed by poor people. To think that the so called under privileged don’t abuse, subjugate, gossip or backstab is far too simple a concept. It’s like South Asians who lie in arranged marriages, hold girls back from doing what they do themselves including fashion, gossip, ruin relationships and get jealous, yet don’t want the same done to them. It’s called acting. Some women use their skin colour, caste and gender to look like victims when all they do is victimise others.

While stationed at Fort Shafter, HI as a Chaplain's Assistant, I had a couple of run-ins with enlisted officers in my chain of command. My direct Sargeant permitted the white female soldier to read Cosmo while she waiting for service to end, but on my duty Sunday, I was directed to participate in the religious service and couldn't do my computer correspondence courses so I could apply for a promotion. I was also always put on what they called "Duty Soldier" trash truck every other week riding around picking up debris, but the white female was not. When I finally brought a Cosmo in while religious services was going on and I was in the back office, my CO came in and demanded I put the magazine down and participate in the service and when I refused, he had me written up on an Article 15. I lost rank and was banned from re-enlisting. I filed a formal complaint because they also denied me annual leave for 2 years. The Sargeant Major called me in his office and apologized profusely for the racist treatment and the white female soldier was finally put on the "Duty Soldier" roster like everyone else. The last time I saw her, she was sitting in the back of the truck with the debris. Both white females were my friends, but they received favorable treatment; even promoted. I left and went in the legal field. It never dawned on me to stop socializing with these women because they received special treatment or because they were white. One even was my maid of honor. My career in the army didn't pan out nor the marriage, but I found a satisfying career in the legal field and a really great husband!

I think my mom raised her children with the words never judge a book by its cover. We are all God's children, I enjoyed the stories about both of them from her brother. I will always enjoy reading their letters my mom kept all those years and her brother shared the ones his sister kept. He said it was just plain love between them, and a pleasure to meet the person who helped her to read and math when know one else would. Unfortunately this is completely untrue. Babies are racist af. They show a preference from birth for faces that look like their caregivers' face, which is typically the same race as their own. I hate this "nobody is born racist" attitude because it means are pretending we can all just ignore race and that will magically end racism. Absolutely false. You have to actively raise your children to *overcome* their instinctual fear of people who look like they might be different "tribes" - this was a helpful instinct when humans did belong to small groups that often competed for resources, but now it's dysfunctional and must be counteracted.

Franco is the embodiment of my grandpa. WW2 vet who didn’t see color, only the person. He was the most sincere and selfless man I had ever known. Never forget when my aunt and my mom told me the story of Grandpa fighting off 3 white men who were going to put their hands on this young female adult who was black while she was walking by on the sidewalk into town. He even put the woman in his car and dropped her off home and made sure she got inside safe. That woman ended up becoming my moms godmother. She passed away in ‘03.

Your grandpa was a hero to normal people. Not anymore. "Not seeing color" isn't a virtue anymore. Now, you have to see racism as the very foundation upon which every block of western society was laid. You have to admit guilt if you're white, and you can never lose that guilt or redeem yourself in any way. The best you can do is live your entire life in service to "people of color." It won't be enough of course, but it's the least you can do. Welcome to Critical Race Theory.

Mosquitos are the only thing that has killed more people than the 2000-year-old fairy tale of Christianity, and while Jesus was obviously a progressive genius far ahead of his time, there was nothing divine about him. That said, he's still the best example of how to live. But Christianity is the 3rd-most immediate and dangerous existential threat, and the greatest danger to the future of species, behind MAGA and billionaires, ahead of climate change. The good news is that there actually IS a God, or possibly gods, it's just none of ours. And the fact that God exists, is literally the only thing we know about God. Scientifically and mathematically, it is absolutely impossible that the universe occurred at random. It was very obviously designed by an intelligent hand, as every super-genius in history has known for centuries. Organized religion based on demonstrably false stories is primitive and dangerous. Please stop it.

@@LycanKai14 This woman is a fictional character. This incident never occurred. It's not real. I'm not the person who needs medication. This scene is the product of a white, liberal screenwriter's virtue-signaling. It's wishful thinking.

actress played and plays her roll so well, the emotions displayed on her face while he fills her gas tank after grabbing the can and telling the store owner off is just amazing

i actually told my mother less than a week ago that if i had to choose your family or my stepdad, i hope you understand why your family would never be one of my options. the one thing my stepfather prevented, her family are the ones who put my white stepsister in competition against me

it’s just so insane how the man who was the father of his own white daughter, made sure that i, his first babygirl NEVER EVER felt any less than she, & yet, my mothers own family ruined his entire family values within months, after all the years he put in raising me & we didn’t even know who they were

A clip like this in today's turbulence is so important for so many reasons. Bigotry is fuelled by ignorance, stains the soul and doesn't wash off easily. Into the mirror.
