Brad speaks truth and he did it so succinctly, "Doesn't matter if you're black, white, brown, this.. you know.. basically y'all can be unified through music.." The way the world is today, we all need to stop focusing on "cultural appropriation" and focus more on "cultrual appreciation". Everyone can benefit from liking and showing love for things from all cultures. No one group of people should have a monopoly on anything. We grow, and better ourselves, by taking in facets from all over the world.. in essence, we become better people ourselves. As tidbits of sayings go.. we are not white, black, brown, yellow.. but humans. If you cut us, don't we all bleed red? We should all strive to to view each other as a blind person, living in a world where there is no color, no division, but living in the moment, experiencing each other by the vibes we give off, the heart, soul and personalities of our individual selves. Music is just one facet that can bring people together, from all walks-of-life. Be kind, be good and above all, respect one another. Much love and respect too Brad&Lex and to all the couch gang. Stay safe and awesome! 😁❤❤

It was a big deal at the time that Mark/Donnie Wahlberg used Loleatta Holloway to sing the hook. There were a lot of songs that used similar samples and replaced the older black women with models to lip sync the samples. C&C Music Factory is one example. Instead Mark had Loleatta perform it live with him at shows and performances. It’s kind of sad that the norm at the time was to essentially steal someone else’s work and replace them with a lip syncer deemed younger and more “physically attractive”, but that was the reality. Probably still is tbh.

This song got used in a lot of ads in the 90's. The lady singing the hook actually sang it with Mark Walberg and the Funky Bunch. It's not a sample. Btw... Most Hip Hop and Rap in the 80's and even early 90's was positive. Some drug use... But no violence or degrading women. Gen X was all about our music. Our battles were dance-offs. Women of every color were in love with Michael Jackson and Prince. Even heavy metal shows had people of every color. Then Marxists in the colleges started pushing political correctness and ruined the color blind inclusiveness we had achieved. That's when all the angry music jumped to the fore.

The song sounds more like the European Dance Floor style in the early 90ties than it sounded like the american scene. I have always thought if this was the idea from the beginning.
