Unlike Torres I have ZERO sympathy for Coutinho .... Klopp did EVERYTHING he could to convince him it was a mistake to go ... and when you ignore personal advice and love from a man like Klopp ... you'll probably reap what you sow ... Torres had watched Liverpool slowly sell many of their best players in the time since they finished second ... and he was being managed by Roy Hodgson while Liverpool's owners were bleeding the club dry. He left a team in crisis ... and it was understandable, even if he seems to now regret doing it. Phil left a club that was finally starting to burn brightly ... The short-lived 'fab four' with Mane, Salah and Firmino was an UNREAL attacking unit, easily the best in world football ... and he could have been part of that.

That devastating night that cost us the 6th (which we've had wone 1 year later though with these mentality monsters of ours xD) is still nothing compared to leaving the club for money like in Phil's case or worse yet - leaving for the VARchester Divded scums. Honest to god - Michael Owen is a fucking rat who wanted to get easy cheese. Guess what? A fucking rat has to work his sorry ass to bite that cheese he's just a disgracefull rat who's went to Varchester Divided scums to win trophies. If it is Phil's case if he would reflect on himself and his actions - i would take him back. His displays at Liverpool could become legendary. They still can if people will say sorry to themselves and if he could be forgiven that is. I do miss his plays and long range stunners. We've lost Stevie Gerrard not so long ago he's had to retire and the one and only man who could try to fill in with the quality of Stevie's bangers could be just Coutinho and nobody else - but well thats just my opinion.

I haven’t even mentioned defenders and midfielders, as there are many of them who improved their careers after joining the Reds. But now 2-3 years football is changed aggressively, now control is more important than dribble and spectaculars. So he is not good prospect as 2015. Without shear speed you can't beat teams like Liverpool/ManCity/PSG/Salsburg/Ajax etc. So coutinho is worthless vs this teams. So no big team willing to spend sum of money Barcelona asking. He truly is the perfect player for the free 10 role with his technique, movement and goal threat. In that sense, he reminds me of Ozil and Mata, who also were always at their best as the free 10. In hindsight, I don´t see a place for him in the current Liverpool, so it worked for the better. Having to fit a star in a scheme that basically doesn't use his position is a headache for managers, just watch Griezmann in Barcelona this year. Coutinho has the same problem at Bayern, our CAM needs to be much more involved in the combination play than in finishing unless you're a genius at being in the right place like Muller, so a player likes Coutinho that tends to dribble a lot and shot before touching the ball kind of hogs the ball too much. Same problem with James before him. Also, defend, defend, defend. The only guy allowed to not run behind the ball is Robert, and that´s because he is the striker. And same goes for Coutinho, he win La Liga, Bundes-liga also. But issue is they are not get any recognition in the club nor adored by club fans, there performance not well enough to do so. Similarly Torres hadn't get what he deserved from Chelsea or fans, If you really think he win trophies. That's the point. People do not remember that Torres win the trophies for Chelsea or Cotiniho did for Barca or Bayern. Their presence is very very minimal in credit book. Even now we Liverpool fans adored Torres more than any Chelsea fan ever did. Even he win nothing (Trophies) for us, but good memories.

I dont think coutinho could have put in the sheer work rate like present day firmino has day after day, match after match. Maybe the klopp could have fit him in the team somehow(?) but i cant imagine him being able to keep up with the team right now.

This saga if anything shows what a brilliant manager Klopp is. He got the very best out of Coutinho. Was sad to see him go, but couldn’t be happier with the way we spent the cash. He does bring a certain skill set with him that we are lacking ..and that is the ability to score goals from outside the box. We have a beautiful balanced side and do well against sides that come to play. 4-0 away against Leicester was a great example. Lately some clubs ...most notably Atletico Madrid employ the “Park the Bus” tactic against us. We have 70% plus possession but have to rely on over complicated short passes in the last third that result in few shots on target. He can hit unstoppable shots from deep. Can’t see him being a starting player though....not in our current side, but a handy counter when we hear those bus engines. Would need to be free transfer or absolute bargain price.

Phil Coutinho is one of my favourite all time players when he's on form. Absolute magic. But at Liverpool he was the main man who we looked to when we were struggling, and he'd take the game by the scruff of the neck. Even though Neymar is a bigger player for Brazil, Coutinho plays with that same level of importance for his country. However, at Barcelona, he clearly wasn't the main man, with Barcelona already having Messi/Suarez, and and having brought in Dembele for a similar amount of money a few months prior. At Bayern, Lewandowski/Muller/Gnabry are their main players, so he isn't the one they go to when things are tough. If the money aspect wasn't an issue, I'd love him back at Liverpool, as I think he's the one type of player we lack in the team - a real creative force from behind the front three. But I can't see how he'd play most games any more. I still think he'd be a great player for most clubs around Europe, but he'd be a bit-part player at the top clubs, and the clubs just below won't be able to afford him, so he's in a sticky situation. His best bet for reviving his career is to try and prove himself again when he returns to Barca, and try to rediscover his form there.

Yup. How often have We seen it? "A Star Rises" & is expected to become the next "Big Thing" & as soon as They ain't the "centre of attention", They begin to crumble. They lack the ability to adapt. They are just unable to be a "Team" Player. That's Coutinho. It's unfortunate. He can do it for His Country, but is unable to fit into the required Level of Discipline Demanded at the Richest Clubs in Europe, whom are the only ones that can now afford Him. I can see Him spending a lot of time on the Bench until His Price comes down, unless some Ultra-rich Benefactor comes along & buys a Club out of the blue & decides to give Him one last dash...

In my opinion he remains a very good player. His season at Bayern has been fine. The first manager used to have faith in him . He was amazed by the range of talents he displayed during training sessions. Earlier in his Germany campaign he was right on the path to get back to his best level. Unfortunately in the middle of the season his supportive manager was sacked due to relatively bad performance of his team side in the bundesliga. His successor has done him any favor . He indeed put Muller over him for no reason apparently maybe because of his German origins. That being said ,I wish him the best of luck. He is a very good dude for real.

Part of the problem is that it's very difficult to fit a player like Coutinho into a modern system. He isn't a good enough goal scorer to be a striker, he isn't dynamic enough to be a winger and he can easily become a defensive liability in midfield. I believe he would have been an absolute superstar 20-30 years ago but few teams these days have a place for the free-roaming virtuoso in attacking midfield. Players like James, Isco and Özil have struggled for similar reasons in recent years.
Well well after today it's safe to say he's reborn

I’m here the morning after the 2020 UCL final. While Coutinho didn’t exactly stand out in that Bayern team, he played pretty well whenever he did play, hell he scored twice in the quarter final and nearly scored a free kick in the final last night. Either way, wherever he goes next season (Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea, wherever), I hope he can regain his best form. If Flick managed to revive Thomas Muller, who last year was dubbed as ‘finished’, then I could see something similar happening to Coutinho.

Coutinho is a player of confidence, it took him years to build up enough to start taking chances, I never thought he would succeed immediately at Barca, but I truly felt that if they gave him time to adapt that he'd be world class. What did they do? They played him out of position, then the manager who signed him was sacked and then they completely pulled him out of the team just to sit on the bench, whilst in the mean time Liverpool made 2 succesive UCL finals and were within 1 point of the premier league. It's bad enough that you aren't playing well, but to see the team that you used to play for get better after you leave, it must suck any confidence right out of you. I think if you put him back under a Klopp or Guardiola he will immediately return to form, but both those managers rely on honest and honorable players to form their squads, the way Coutinho left, is not a good fit for those two managers. Same reason why Guardiola didn't want to keep Sane.

Before the world cup Coutinho did great in the Brazilian National Team under coach Tite. in Bayern I think that the problem is that the club's roster is simply amazing. Hard to find a place for any professional player in activity on the planet. Messi? Would have trouble playing for Bayern. Cristiano Ronaldo? Would have trouble playing for Bayern. (Perhaps less than Messi or Coutinho. I think that Ronaldo could pull it through).

This transfer if you actually think about it made no sense, because lets think about it if you want him to replace Neymar well he isn't a winger he isn't skillful enough and doesn't have the raw pace to be a winger, and he had never played as a center mid unless Barcelona changed their tactics and lineup for him to play as a CAM which wasn't going to happen he would essentially be worthless, Barcelona just thought hmm a big name who says he loves Barcelona this will make the fans shut up about Neymar leaving, its just negligence with your finances to buy someone you didn't need or were ever going to use properly

I've been a Liverpool fan (born there) for more than 60 years. I was not surprised nor angry when he left simply because I knew it was a cultural thing, that young Sth American footballers all have the dream of playing for Barca. I do think however, that he did not understand enough about the nuances of playing for such high profile club with a high need to produce the global income that makes them tick. This means they are not what one could call a 'normal' club because of those enormous expectations, both results and profit wise. I believe he was not equipped in understanding how those pressures impact on the club, the players, the manager and the daily atmosphere and emotional pressures of needing to be the biggest and best 24/7 on a global stage..... and it took it's toll on him quickly. I personally feel sorry for him. It became widely known here that when he first told Klopp he wanted to leave, Klopp said to him "if you stay here, this club will erect a statue of you, if you go to Barca you'll just be another player" and I believe under Klopp's management, Coutinho had what it took (and Klopp knew it) to become that super player Liverpool would have made him and fans would have wanted to erect a statue of.

I wouldn't say he is easily shaken... He is a player that feeds off the confidence his coach, team, and fans have of him... The more you love him and respect him the more confidence he has and the better he plays... at Barca he received none of that and at Bayern they don't have to cater to a player's feelings. A player must produce now! A team like Arsenal will bring the old Coutinho back because he will feel the love from the team, coach, and fans because he would be the man at our club. That's why it's the perfect fit.

He sacrificed himself just so that the club could get Allison and van dijk This would have never happened if he would have been loyal to Liverpool. Honestly Barcelona don't make any sense. So you lose a natural winger, one of the best in the world, and you replace him with a CAM that doesn't fit your system with a gargantuan fee? and put that CAM on the wing where he isn't even good at. Why not just buy a winger then? And they made the exact same mistake with Griezmann

Like a moth to a flame, any Latin American player cannot turn down an offer, when a call from the motherland's big clubs arrive, as it likely only comes once. So, in that regard I fully understand _why_ he forced a move from Liverpool right at the end of the transfer window, even though he was already at the perfect club for him, in terms of playing style and the way he was allowed to play. When Klopp became Liverpool manager, he was asked how he would describe himself. As well saying that he's "the Normal One", he also said that "I'm Loyal", so Don't expect Coutinho to be coming back to Liverpool any time ever - as loyalty is _very_ high on Klopp's character list.

He would suit a club like PSG or Everton or some such club, one that needs to make a big leap into the elite echelons. PSG has yet to win a Champions League title and Everton want to become a top four club. I personally want him to go to *INTER.* I think he would make good there. There are ex-PL players playing in that league so it would make him feel at home a bit. He would work well with Eriksen, Sanchez and Martinez to score goals. I don't think Lukaku is quality; they need a better forward, especially if Martinez is leaving. A dream front of Eriksen, Coutinho, Sanchez (and Martinez if he's staying) would be wonderful. With these players, they should not have a problem winning the Scudetto and/or Champions League (and the Coppa Italia). Conte would not have to coach them. He would just have to say to the players, "Do your own thing, and work out amongst yourselves how you will score goals."

Liverpool is bigger club than Barcelona in every stat possible, I understand people roam around for money, but they need to get back on the ground and start thinking rationally. Too many players lose their touch with reality after getting transferred. Salah was average at best in Roma, but Klop made him world class. Not many coaches can make players better than they’re supposed to be. There’s Klop, Pep and maybe Emery and that’s about it.

I beg to differ....when he played at AS Roma, Mo played his role as a traditional right winger and main job was to pass and assist to Dzeko....the striker at that time in AS Roma.....But Mo cannot stop his natural goalscoring instinct and when runaway balls came his way...he run to slot it into the net. Evident when Dzeko hit a crossbar or pole......Plus when Mo scored, the main assist tend to be Pjanic, Shaarawy, Nainggoalan or even Totti running down the middle. Ngl...that AS Roma squad was solid.....with Rudiger, Alisson, Dzeko, Pjanic, etc. The big difference was that Klopp allowed Mo, Mane and Bobby to go crazy in attempting shots. Be a trio of attacking forwards ...go beyond the role of the traditional winger with a striker in the middle. Hence, Origi role as a striker will still useful, he was awkward when there was no free flowing no. 10 like coutinho to create chances for Origi from midfield.
