The Grand Inquisitor is immeasurably better in Rebels than in Kenobi... It is my opinion that out of all the Inquisitors, only two were genuinely proficient at their job: the Grand Inquisitor and the Second Sister (Jedi: Fallen Order). Concerning the former, he's cunning, strategic, methodical and calculating. The whole Luminara deception was incredibly cruel, but SO effective. Edit 1: After Order 66 the Inquisitorious were created by Palpatine and assigned to Vader for training in huntig Jedi. The very first Inquisitor was, of course, the Grand Inquisitor, and Palpatine seduced him by promising him access to the Jedi Archives (most of them, at least); the first time Vader and him met, Vader found him rummaging throught the archive and almost lilled him, until Palpatine stopped him and introduced them formally. Since then the Grand Inquisitor was absolutely TERRIFIED of Vader, same with all subsequent Brothers and Sisters (whom Vader crippled in one way or another to teach them loss, pain and hate). This was explored in the Vader Comics :) Edit 2: a fun thing is that the Rule of Two is mostly right... even for Jedi. Having one master and one apprentice does indeed lead to both bonding, and a respectable amount of competitiveness to surpass the Master. "One to embody power, and one to crave it." Ezra and Kanan exemplify this to a great degree too. Last Edit: It hasn't been confirmed at all, but I do not believe all the Force Sensitives the Inquisitors are hunting are meant to become part of the Inquisitorious... in the Expanded Universe there were Force Sensitive Operatives that had the highest clearance and most secrecy in the Empire, the Emperor's Hands. Master assassins, spies, saboteurs, you name it. They answered to no one but Palpatine himself. I suspect that's why they have a special interest in young Force Sensitives.

I cannot get over how good the Grand Inquisitor was in this compared to Kenobi! It’s such a shame his live-action appearance doesn’t live up to this. His trap is truly diabolical but so smart. Definitely want to check out these comics now! Vader and Grand Inquisitors meeting sounds so inane and I love that this dude is such a bookworm, always looking for knowledge and secrets that the Jedi kept from him and now he’s using it to his complete advantage. It’s going to be so interesting to see how Ezra and Kanan progress as they both have so little training and I’m honestly starting to wonder if they may tip into the darkness by accident.

The training arena is based off "The Box". you gotta love how early rebels like early clone wars leans a bit on nods to the movies to give people a sense of familiarity while still introducing a new group like "do or do not there is no try" and stuff like that. i love how the luminaria ep pretty much ends with the equivalent of a son and dad playing catch as kanan learns he's gonna have to do his best instead of trying and pawning ezra off. Kanan's master was Depa bilba who was mace windu's apprentice. which sort of leads to a very unique relationship later on in the series depending on how you look at it. especially since outside of obi-wan, anakin and ashoka most master and apprentice relationships would at best be compared to a parent and sibling. hell in the novelization of ROTS dooku practically calls obi-wan his grandson right before their fight which gets him killed when talking to palpatine. so in a way he has a unique relationship to hera. remember in the clone wars hera's dad Cham had to work with windu to free his planet Ryloth and now in the words of Obi-wan "from a certain point of view" windu's grandson is helping Cham's daughter. its like a reunion of sorts. as with most of rebels it is using Ralph McQuarrie art even the light sabers thinner look is based on early cocept art on how the light sabers would look. Jai "Honor" kell commits treason just like another of his VA's other credits. the imperial academies function like military schools. remember by now most of the empire's soldiers are recruited now and they've had years of propaganda to convince the standard civilian that they are doing the right thing and convince them that joining their ranks is a great way to show support and give back. so some may end up enrolling early for various reasons outside of propaganda. like Zares for example is looking for family , ezra for info, but some may have been saved by imperial troops while as a child and now want to join them because they see them as saviors. those who are joining the imperials can join for many reasons. one thing you should remember is that now that there are no jedi around its possible for force sensitive to slip through the cracks since there's not a massive group looking for them. its possible some can seep though which is why they will sometimes call the inquisitors. its to vet out if they are actually talented or have the force and maybe end up having them join the inquisitors. that doesn't mean they aren't looking its just that some fall through the cracks and they try to patch those cracks up with things like that.

Absolutely love how this is leaning on the OT, it makes it feel so much closer to those in the timeline like how Clone Wars fits with the Prequels. Can’t believe I missed this ending 😂 Feels so obvious looking back but I love how it cements their relationship as Father-Son. It’s so weird to think that Kanan and Ezra are a part of Windu’s lineage, but I like how this means her kind of lives on through his training. Definitely weird how this relates Hera to Kanan now 😂 😂 Technically means Kanan’s grandfather saved the parents of his partner. Love how Dante Basco’s character is another traitor 😂 The schools are super interesting, it’s honestly genius for Palpatine to start this thing up as it creates the loyal soldiers he’d be looking for and it allows him to find potential Force Sensitives and have full control over them.

About the Kyber crystal: of course the small saber crystal wouldn't require such a big transport but one small crystal wouldn't be enough to power the Death Star. This being a crystal intended for the Death Star is possible, but it might also still be for research. If you want to learn more about the crystals for the death star, you can read the amazing novel "Catalyst" which is a prequel to "Rouge One" but independent from Andor, because it focuses on other characters. The novel is about a pacifistic scientist who gets forced into researching for imperial military projects. Some call this novel "the Oppenheimer of Star Wars"

6:26 Just one word: Mandalorian. [*] Luminara Before TotE there were speculations why Luminara but now I am sure. This is a trap for Jedi but especially for 1 particular one - Barriss And let's analyze what we know: Grand Inquisitor considered Barriss an ideal role model. Her betrayal definitely must have shocked him. We don't know when specifically Luminara was captured. Most likely several months after Order 66. If Luminara was captured during Order 66 then Barriss would have received a beautiful gift - murder of her master as her initiation. However, this is not the end if we dig deeper there are further conclusions. Probably Luminara's last words and they are canonical: “In the night, find the light"- totally it doesn't sound like a form of the last lesson and help to find a new path. In addition, this arc was supposed to be more developed but Filoni abandoned it for some reason. (He probably wanted to focus more on the main characters and Barriss and maybe even someone else could sabotage characters we just met.) So the conclusion on the information we have: Barriss tried to save Luminara but failed. It's even possible that Luminara was killed before her eyes by the Grand Inquisitor. Maybe we'll see that in some form in the next animation. As for the Grand Inquisitor, he is supposed to represent fear in a philosophical sense. Ezra's fear of being left alone Kanan's fear that he will fail in his new role as master And Jedi's fear of the death of any hope Grand Inquisitor is a master swordsman and knows all forms. His mastery comes to the point where he knows the characteristic moves of other Jedi - he instantly recognized Bilaba's technique that Kanan used. Why does he know so much? Well one of the things he wanted to gain in exchange for joining Palpatine was all the knowledge from the Jedi Temple - meaning he was interested in knowledge before, especially the dueling knowledge. As for the second episode, if the cadets are too good it is natural that they will be considered potential candidates for the Inquisition. They will be forcibly indoctrinated or prove not good enough and die forgotten. Here we are definitely dealing with such a situation. It should be remembered that Palpatine wants to destroy all organizations connected with the Force in order to avoid future potential threats, and the only organizations that have the right to survive are those over which he has full control so Inquisition or Zelots.
@benspiller
3 күн бұрын
True 😂😂 Weapons Expert, explosives Expert and can appreciate expert craftsmanship of a Prison 😂 I love this explanation, it clearly explains why she was kept alive and not just killed instantly which was something I was questioning, and it makes it so personal to both the Grand Inquisitor and Barriss, almost makes me wonder if he was expecting to run into Barriss during this fight. Would definitely want this story continued and for Barris and the Grand Inquisitor's relationship to be explored further, this sounds like such an interesting avenue to go down and I can already imagine a show about the Grand Inquisitor hunting down Barriss and using Luminara to mess with her. Love this so much!! He represents this flawlessly; his actions perfectly demonstrate how everything the characters fear and the design just adds to this. It’s so insane how he was able to analyse Kanan so easily and quickly while fighting him. The deal he for from Palpatine was definitely worth it for him to gain this level of knowledge. The training program is so smart on Palpatine’s part, I’ve been wondering how he thought to control the eventual arrival of Force Sensitives since they would still continue to be born. Having children want to join the Empire, do well and be discovered means they’re doing all the work for him so he not only controls the only other Force organisation and controls all the new Force Sensitives coming into the world.

Man, another OT callback with the Yoda quote. That's why I love this show so much. This is only an inkling of Chopper's destructive, murderous, and psychotic potential. 😂😂 (That was a reference to another movie that will be watched at some point 😉) "You're lucky every stormtrooper in the prison doesn't know we're here", now that has to be a reference to Luke saying "You know, between his howling and your blasting everything in sight, it's a wonder the whole station doesn't know we're here". Has to be. I don't know how I never noticed it before. "This plan gets worse all the time", probably a stretch, but that almost sounds like when Lando said "this deal is getting worse all the time" after Vader scolded him. The kyber crystal is definitely for the death star. Explosive when triggered by something, and green. There's probably more too, since there's still multiple years until the OT.

There are 7 forms of lightsaber fighting. And sub forms or some of them. Different people prefer different forms. And then incorporate other forms to make up for the weakness. Rewatching Rebels with you Ben really puts into perspective for me how badly they handled the Inquisitors in Kenobi & TOTE... 😂 Side note: the reason Reva had so much trouble breaking Leia was her innate force potential, Ezra appears to have a high grasp of the physical aspects of the force, whereas I believe young Leia had an overly strong mind. Force-sensitives are to a certain degree naturally shielded against offensive force abilities, because Leia was Anakin's direct offspring she inherited a part of his unusually high midi-chlorian count, giving her enough strength to fend off the obviously more skilled Inquisitor...

@@mikhaillisovoy3055 do you know this 20 minutes episode really did remind me a great deal of Farscape season one’s two parter Nerve and Hidden Memory. In those episodes, two of the crew have to break into a secret military facility to steal a a gene sample of a nerve to rescue one of their own, while the rest stay in orbit in attempt to keep her alive. But the main character Crichton is captured. In hidden memory, the entire point is to rescue him. The similarities between those episodes and rise of the old masters is that it introduces us to our primary new villain that is stronger and more capable than the guys that are currently chasing the heroes. And the escapes are pretty similar. But the Farscape’s case, there is a bit of a space Chase. Me personally, I would give almost anything for there to be a live action release of Star Wars rebels, with all of the bells and whistles, and no filler. It really would be the spiritual successor to Farscape and Firefly.
