Strange that so many manga have the conceit that blacksmiths are underpowered. Smith is the most common last name among the English, as well as many other European languages. The reason for this is that when an area was conquered, most of the adult men were killed in battle or put to the sword afterward, yet no one wanted to kill the blacksmiths of the vanquished group. They were simply too valuable. They could make weapons and armor for the victors, and countless other useful things.

Hmm, I don't know the explanation in the other manga as this is the first one I've seen with this premise. But in this particular world it seems to be because the weapons blacksmiths can create are inferior in almost every way to the sacred weapons granted to like everybody by their god, so why would they use them when they already have better weapons. Of course blacksmiths in history were never limited to just making weapons, they worked with /anything/ metal, armor, tools like knives/utensils, shovels, pickaxes, nails, horseshoes, any time you needed something made of metal you needed a blacksmith, so if you ignore the combat function then a blacksmith is a very vital profession. Also who ever thought a big old hammer isn't a viable weapon just because it doesn't have an edge. Thor might like to have words with you. Hmm, I remember he picked up the auto-return skill he can apply to objects, could he apply that to his hammer and throw it like thor, only without the whole being near unstoppable once thrown thing? Or does it only work on stuff he's created. Also, there are many knights wearing armor, who makes that armor if blacksmiths are so looked down upon or if the job is supposedly so "rare" like "hero" which it said at some point.

Unless it was a religious dispute nobody wanted to kill any skilled civilians, Smiths, Carpenters (of all kind), Bakers, Leather makers, Masons... The only people killed where those that where conscripted or in some cases people affiliated with the government. Smith was just a profession that was hard to master, paid well and they where almost never conscripted because they could make or repair weapons, armor and import tools.

@@CJO-no1 Depends on the period. For most of pre-history, classical antiquity and through much of the medieval period sacking cities was the norm. Most of the men and many of the male children were killed if not enslaved. The Yamnia swept out of the steeps and destroyed the Bell Beaker Culture, who wiped out the Early European Farmers. Carthage, Rome and the Greeks were notorious for this, as were the Huns, Vandals, and especially the Mongols. Not to mention the Angles, Saxons, Danes, Vikings and Finns. The Ottomans were not especially delicate with the peoples they vanquished. Take a look at what William the Conqueror did to the north of England. It took generations for many of those areas to recover.

@@sik3xploit its about cruelty because they cause massiv often irreparable damage and are absolute pain to remove from a survives body (in case of trench guns almost impossible) also its way more likely to hit civilians with such weapons. war isn't about injuring people for their life when they survive and them succumbing to a slow and painful death even afterwards is also not the goal. I'm confused. If every ones does the coming of age thing and gets a weapon based on their job and those weapons are magical and special and unbreakable, WHY would any one make weapons to begin with? If you go to war you'd use the weapon god gave you, right? Blacksmiths would only make other items which people needed and given the limited number of blacksmiths and the damage monsters would cause, it seems blacksmiths wouldn't be looked down on as much as they suggest since any craftspeople would be needed.

@@RoseSparr The gender thing is due to how eastern languages (chinese/japanese) are structured. There are no gendered pronounce.. no he or her. Gender of the character is clue in by the name of the character, their physical description, and the reader keeping tract on who is being referred too.. AI however does not pick this up. So when faced with a gender neutral pronounce in an eastern language, it has to replaced it with a gendered English pronounce... and since the AI does not actually keep tract which character is being referred too... it just randomly swaps in one gender or another... and end up right half the time.

Nice concept and story, but ofc the mc is always single-minded and quite naive, the famous cliche stuff. Hes so bent on "this ability cant help me fight (coz thats what is known to everyone)." Honestly if that were me, after discovering i could disassemble things, i wouldve tried fighting with that, be Thanos inferior version. Being a unique blacksmith, its surprising how hes more focused on other things instead of experimenting on, at least plants to trees and more, except humans. Also that meeting at the last part, what hypocrits. "Blacksmith is a blasphemy against sacred weapons"? Then do tell who gave people that ability
