As a long time Tennessee fan, watching Jalen Hurd was special. He played hard and I mean HARD. He may not have gotten far in some games but that could be attributed to the coaching staff which makes his other stats all the more amazing. He never really had a decent O Line so his stats were mostly his own. He would be also known for his trucking fashion workhorse running style that after a few "POP"s were heard from him slamming into people it got the fans to adopt the saying, "Have ya Hurd?". I feel terrible about his injuries and feel that it could have been handled at lot more if he and Kamara were more fluid in their Triple Option with Dobbs at the time. But hindsight is always 20/20. Hope this little tidbit helps! :)

Jalen Hurd felt his NFL FUTURE WOULD BE AS A RECEIVER. He asked HC Butch Jones to be given more reps catching the ball. Jones refused so Jalen left. Jones was a good recruiter & marketer, but failed to be a true leader, did not create discipline & accountability in the program. Now I think he’s a great talent but he never broke the long one....which should have been every other game with his decent speed and talent. I say that because every defense had to account for the TD machine Josh Dobbs. But I think Jones and staff screwed up and didn’t use him as a receiver just to keep him at UT....but by that time I don’t think there was any way going back from the rumor mill, the mom and Butch had drawn a line in the sand and neither one would give.....so Jalen moved on. I enjoyed watching him play for us and was a little confused when he left....egos are a funny thing.....Kamara breathing down the neck and Dobbs scrambling on 3rd and 20.....picking up the TD or first down. That stupid RPO that butch was running got him absolutely killed because he wasn't really that type of running back. He also was trying to switch to reciever or te and butch was to pig headed. They should have moved him and made Kamara the feature back.

Hurd was garbage as a player. This dude couldn't break a tackle even if it was a wet paper bag tackling him. When your getting 25-35 touches a game and Dobbs as your qb it's hard not to put up some yards. He always crumpled when arm tackled. Look up his highlights, he does not have a beast mode. Alvin had much more talent and heart hands down.
