Is and always will be part of the bama fan, he saw us thru a dark period. I'll forever be grateful for Mike on and off the field for what he did. Great representative for Alabama.

As an Alabama fan, I really wanted Mike to succeed in Tuscaloosa as our HC. He definitely had some obstacles; not being able to go through spring training in 2003 due to being hired after the firing of Mike Price; the reduction of scholarships due to NCAA sanctions; the injury to starting QB Brodie Croyle in 2004; and sadly, his inexperience as a HC due to never having been a HC. There were some good things that happened; the 10-2 season in 2005 was wonderful but what has been unsung was the number of players that were recruited by Shula and staff that were part of Nick Saban's 2009 NC Team. QB Greg McElroy, OL Drew Davis, LB Eryk Anders, DL Brandon Deaderick, DB Javier Arenas, Punter P.J. Fitzgerald, PK Leigh Tiffin.

Alabama was on probation from the NCAA at the time! So Mike kept the ship afloat during that time

It's regrettable that Mike has not ever gotten a chance to be HC at another locale. I feel being a coaches' son in some ways might have been detrimental to that goal. My dad was a bank president and despite having two finance degrees I was sort of overlooked when he stepped down, so it's sort of that principle to me. As a player he was a favorite, and will always be remembered for the Georgia and Auburn wins his junior year. Circumstances in 2003 (no spring practice), Croyle injury in '04, and late season collapse in '06 contributed to his demise. Always heard he was great tactician, but would become more conservative in games. I still would have loved to have seen him succeed. And hope he will yet get a chance to lead a team sometime in the future. I know I'll be cheering for him regardless of where he is.

I always had confidence in this man. In his defense, he was made to be coach in the most hostile places in the world. I do remember the 2005 season. We were 9-0 at best. Plus this year I dated the hottest girl ever. So Lauren and Alabama 05' + hurricane Katrina (with Lauren) nuff said!! Amen

But Mike Never Beat Auburn As HC! Recruiting Fell Off And The Results Were Too Many Losses.
