Today we go head to head with two Sonor Benny Greb Signature Series snare drums. Both drums have all the same hardware, hoops and heads. The only difference between the two is the shell: Beech vs Brass. Benny Greb and Sonor did a redesign of his original signature beech snare drum adding a Bubinga wood inlay, Sonor's Dual Glide strainer and a cleverly crafted dual internal dampening system that utilizes both a hard felt and softer felt dampeners. Along with releasing the redesign of the original, they also decided to release a brass version of the same drum. We were excited to check out both drums so we figured we'd play them together in a head to head comparison.
For the purposes of this video, we did not do any adjustments with the internal dampeners on either drum. We just wanted to demonstrate the drum shell sound as open as possible.
