You’re absolutely correct! 👍🏻 I feel the same about my EGO purchase. Personal satisfaction is where it’s at. And the Milwaukee edged the EGO in most of the legitimate competitions I’ve seen. The EGO being much lighter & less expensive swayed me in that direction. No regrets here either! 👍🏻✌🏻

First of all…Big thank you for doing this comparison. Your review, speed, style…very informative and ver detailed. And I agree with others that you were open and very unbiased with the review even though you have been using EGO and are not worried about what each of the manufacturers have to say. I have been closely following EGO LM2156SP and own quite a few M18 tools. So this review is very helpful. To me, both are quite even; and ego is tried and tested over a longer time plus $200 cheaper. But may lean towards Milwaukee if I can get it cheaper on a coupon since I can still use the batteries for other M18 tools like trimmer and blower. Had it not been the case, I would go with EGO personally. Thanks again for the review….. you got yourself a new subscriber.

No other channel is nearly as thorough as you, and you appear to be unbiased, letting the results speak for themselves. It’s a shame how there are so few channels of this quality, that isn’t scared to criticize a big company like Milwaukee in fear of lack of future sponsorships. I am on my second Ego mower (sold my first to get the Select Cut) and I can tell you that nothing can match them. Every bit as good as a gas mower. Also have the string trimmer, edger and blower and all share the same batteries. Highly recommend Ego.

That's what we did commercially and I want to add the zero turn to our line up for lawn care but $$$$. When I got the first round of stimulus money I bought the 2135SP and the Toro 60V 21" and I actually liked the cut quality of the Toro better but the drag from the drive system when reversing was the deal breaker compared to the Ego. Fast forward to the 2156SP and it's the best of both worlds. The only thing that might make the 2156SP better would be having dual battery ports and their new 12Ah batteries.

Did the same thing, but I waited until each unit failed before replacing it with the EGO one. There is only one thing that would make me switch from EGO. Better ground speed. Snow removal can take all 10-12 7.5Ah batteries in one storm and I've got a Renergy 2000w inverter in my work van to keep them topped off between properties. I want the 12Ah EGO batteries now.

Thank you for sharing this great review of the EGO Power+ 56V mower.🤝 I was looking for a budget-friendly to mow my lawn, and after comparing a few brands such as Toro, Kobalt, Greenworks, Craftsman, DeWALT, RYOBI, Black+Decker, and Troy-Bilt. Since I preferred the EGO specifications and features and couldn't find that brand at Home Depot, I took a trip to Lowe's and bought the EGO Power+ 56V Select Cut XP 21-in deck Self-Propelled Mower for $799.99 with 1 battery and battery charger included in June 2022. I added the 3-year Lowe's extended warranty as the mower battery is more expensive than the actual mower. Rainfall is annoying and wet grass gets clogged inside the grass chute making it longer and difficult to finish mowing my lawn before my 10.0 Amp battery is depleted. According to the EGO label, the battery should last up to 75 minutes. However, tall grass coupled with the self-propelled activation on a lower cut setting between 1" to 4" height drains the battery. I would use my EGO 56V 15" String Trimmer to cut down the tall grass and then mow it down with the mower. I plan to stay with the EGO brand and continue buying its battery-powered tools and batteries. Hopefully, EGO will make longer-lasting smart batteries with a 7-year extended battery warranty. Keep up the awesome job! 🤝

I have owned both of these mowers and the 2 major advantages the Ego has over the Milwaukee is the much better quality dual blade, and the faster battery charger. Without a doubt the Ego dual blade is far superior when mulching VS the Milwaukee single blade. It also doesn't help that the Milwaukee blade comes very dull from the factory and needs to be sharpened right out of the box. I feel that if the Milwaukee came with a similar high quality dual blade then it would easily match and likely surpass the Ego in overall cut quality. The Milwaukee is by far the more powerful mower, and has noticeably greater lift & suction due to the more powerful motor and what I feel is a superior deck design. The Milwaukee also has a much higher quality feel due to the steel deck and overall more sturdy feeling materials, where as the Ego feels like a kids toy next to the Milwaukee due to the majority of the Ego being made out of plastic. Both are great mowers and I enjoy them both but I really feel that the only thing holding this Milwaukee back is the inferior blade that it comes with.

I’ve had my Ego with 10 mah battery about a month now. It’s a love hate relationship. It definitely does not cut as well as my Honda or Toro Time Master gas powered mowers. The ego tends to leave uncut grass here and there requiring me to go over certain areas twice. I have a .47 acre lot, which the house is on and a few large mulch beds. So subtract those from the .47 acres. The battery is typically on its last bar when I finish lasting between 45-60 minutes. I expected more from the larger batteries. I absolutely love not having to change oil, fuel filters, spark plug and air filter. I also love the easy start and go. I’m just not sure it’s worth the inferior cut and battery anxiety 😂

^This. I wonder why neither company designed the deck to have the rear port on the left (port!) side? A hold-over from gas-mowers that do the same thing, for some reason? I am guessing they open the right side for right-handed folk to switch between bagging and mulching, but seriously it doesn't take that much dexterity, we can do that with our left-hand, companies!
@lewisjohnson7821
2 жыл бұрын
@@Chamdar17 If the port were on the left side, the mower blade would have to turn counter clockwise... which is why most, if not all mowers have the port on the right. Port on left side of a clockwise blade rotation would not eject much as the flow spins away from the discharge port.
@Chamdar17

@@lewisjohnson7821 discussing the REAR discharge, not side. Mower blades spinning clockwise (viewed from above) with throw out and back on the right side of the mower (where most have the discharge chute location). But in the rear, the discharge chute can be on the left-rear as opposed to the right-rear, the clippings will get thrown out to the left-rear without needing to be redirected by a chute. The EGO improperly tries to turn the direction right-ward while the Milwaukee properly guides it leftward, but NEITHER thought to just locate the opening for the chute/bag-loader on the LEFT rear to begin with. *Shrug*

FYI - the EGO steel deck has a no load RPM of 3,000 RPM, it is superior to the EGO plastic mowers because of it’s RPM alone, allowing you to move quicker leaving less stragglers and time is money! But Ego needs to bring the actual cut of this mower up 533mm, not the current small 480mm and give this new mower a twin blade with 3,000rpm and above speed!

The issue is one thing, that is once you "buy in" to EGO or any other brand your invested in their battery technology and charging stations. It is almost a leap of faith if you want to switch brands after you buy in to two or more products. Due to this I would have almost no choice but to buy into the EGO brand as I already invested deeply into multiple devices. I would be shooting myself in the foot to switch to another battery brand and not have all my batteries for all my battery powered lawn care products to not be the same. Great job in comparing lawn mowers. I quit using my Toro self-pace lawn mower (many years ago, gasoline model) because is was too difficult to backup and mow around trees and curved shaped flower beds. The fact that the Milwaukee is somewhat free wheeling when out of the self propelled mode would be a big selling point for me. Do you know where Milwaukee mower is manufactured? Observations… the grass is too wet and heavy to do a fair condition comparison, which explains all the “clumping” and build up on the underside and caking on the wheels. It’s never good to mow, let alone “mulch” in wet conditions. The Milwaukee handle collapses if you loosen the Wingnuts and fold it, which makes it more compact than the Ego. Also, measure blade height at the front, not the side, for actual height comparison. The Ego is designed with a homeowner in mind, and the Milwaukee is designed for both home and pro user in mind. The Milwaukee is far superior to the Ego, in my opinion.

The Milwaukee is a great mower, but the grass bag catcher has several serious flaws. 1) the bag drags on the ground behind the mower and will rip the stitching after the first few uses, 2) it is tedious to back up because the grass bag gets caught on the ground and buckles under the back of the mower, and 3) emptying a full bag requires pulling out the grass by hand because the hole is smaller than the back of the bag. I don't own an Ego, but judging from the video, it appears the Ego does not have any of these flaws.

One of the things I look at in choosing a mower are knobs and levers that protrude beyond the outer edges of the wheels or mower case that would interfere when mowing alongside a chain-link fence or building - i.e. the cutting height adjustment knobs, handle assembly star-shaped screw knobs (Milwaukee) or the lever for folding the handle (EGO). Surprisingly, mower manufacturers do not seem to consider this in their design process.

I got the ego 10ah push mower. I'd pick it over milwaukee every day lol. I cut stuff down taller than 6ft eats it like candy. Got a short video of cutting some big stuff on my channel 😅 I abuse it and it never gives up.

Unfortunately Milwaukee is no go, because of single blade .I had first gen EGO, with one blade only and always wasn't satisfied with mulching.As soon they came out with dual blade select cut, I switch to it and mulching issues whent away. So as of right now don't waist your money for Milwaukee, until they make a dual blade model.

I don't know if someone pointed it out but if you don't mulch with the EGO and use side discharge maybe with the other blade types that it comes with it will throw farther that with the mulching blade.

For the height of cut, you need to measure at the front of the mower. The blade isn't flat to the ground and only cuts with the front edge of the blade.

First off that was a great video! 👍 well done sir! Im torn between these two. I really had my heart on the Ego but im already vested in the M18 line with blower, trimmer, etc. I probably should just stick with Milwaukee otherwise i dont want two different platforms in my yard arsenal. Hmm tough choice!

@@TechMadeEzy I assume for more rigidity with the twin blade and stronger motor but I like the smooth deck of my 2102SP. And thanks for the video, the Ego did quite well in comparison. An excellent design overall.

If you cut your grass routinely every week you don't need neither one of these two powerful mowers. But if you're the kind of person that lets their grass grow to 12 inches tall.Before you cut it then you probably need the milwaukee.

Billy thank you and welcome to the channel, I haven't seen you on here The Hi-lift blade is really good for bagging, it can also help when you have grass that needs to be lifted up in order to be cut that happens sometimes. In reality a good sharp blade will do the job and the Milwaukee has a super powerful motor as well

You can't judge mulch clipping ability with bag on. Mulch plug keeps the grass under deco longer to be cut up.

Another great review. Thank you. I’ll tell you what, they need to get the cost of the batteries down. $500 to replace the battery on the EGO, is ridiculous! That’s almost the price of the whole lawnmower! And I don’t want to replace a battery every five or 10 years even. I think for now, I’ll stick with my gas powered mower. One thing about measuring the blade height on concrete, it’s obviously going to be a little higher than it is if you had the mower in grass, because the wheels are going to sink down into the grass about a half inch, at least. So, your blade height is going to be lower in grass than it is on concrete. I’m not sure if the manufacture measures the blade height the way you are. I like that solar battery charger idea, but you left out the fact that you need two batteries, not one, to run the Milwaukee lawnmower. So you have to charge two batteries, not one, so your comparison to charge batteries for lawnmower use was misleading.
@TechMadeEzy

You definitely didn’t watch the full video because I clearly stated you need 2 batteries to run the Milwaukee. Shame so many viewers make that mistake and make a comment without watching the full video.

Thanks for the thorough review. Alas I’m disappointed in all cordless lawnmowers, as I won’t be able to cut my lawn all in one session, even with these top of the line mowers. It takes me an hour and a hour, when I’m really motivated, to completely mow my lawn. Generally it is more like an hour and forty five minutes with my gas Toro. I thought with the big batteries, these would last longer than an hour.

Looks like Milwaukee has a great tool but not great enough to justify spending an extra $300. Plus, the batteries to run the Milwaukee mower cost $100 more than the one 10ah pack and only $10 less than EGOs new 12ah batteries. Not a good buy IMO unless you're already invested in the Milwaukee battery platform.

Milwaukee does make a faster charger known as the "supercharger" which will only charge the hd batteries faster like the 12.0 but it is a single charger so you would have to buy 2 of them. Any other non hd battery will charge at the fast charger speed.
@thirstbuster78

It comes with a double charger that i think does that. But the fast single comes with the quick loc trimmer.

Just an addendum…and due to your THOROUGHNESS, you noted same on the EGO my only complaint of it…it kinda “leaks” on the top edge of the bag, and a few clipping/leaves/seeds blow back on top toward you. I do think that is WHY the Milwaukee bag goes all the way up and might seal off better. Slight design flaw by EGO, but not a complete deal breaker. I hope next series fixes this.

I'd go with the ego. It has a better warranty, and overall, it just looks much nicer in quality and the ease of usage. 56 volt versus 36volt, you know, which is gonna be much better. The 56volt. I don't really like the look of that miwaukee.
