I tore my hamstring playing pickleball, felt the pop, pretty painful. Back of my leg was completely dark purple. For the first time ever, I used a massager many times per day and it was magic. I was 100% healed in one month to the day. I highly recommend those stick massagers and keep that blood flow to the area. It healed it amazingly fast, even for someone closing in on 60!

@@abedagoat3099 Not sure what a massage gun looks like. And I am not exactly sure what they are called but it looks like a immersion blender with a circular vibrating thingy on the end with different attachments. Any sort of massager will work. Thank you! I have ordered the foam roller and stretch out strap. Love how you give reasons why to do and not do something a certain way. I have subscribed and will take time to watch more of your videos. But for now, I've got to concentrate on the hamstring I just injured. I have ridden horses my entire life, but due to life's circumstances cannot be regular with my riding so consequently am not in the shape I should be; add to that I'm 68. A sudden movement caused my horse to whirl which jerked my leg and I actually heard a pop in my hamstring. I'm in the resting phase and want to heal and regain strength the right way, so am very appreciative of your help.

Hamstring injuries happen to all types of athletes, from Olympic sprinters to slow-pitch softball players. Though these injuries can be very painful, they will usually heal on their own. But for an injured hamstring to return to full function, it needs special attention and a specially designed rehabilitation program.
@toneandtighten

Couldn't agree more, Daily Dose of Medicine. While they'll often heal on their own, they don't always heal the RIGHT way. It's this poor healing and scar tissue accumulation that sets the person up for future re-injury and should be addressed early and often. Thanks for commenting!

My only concern is what Brain Pope addressed in the comments two years ago: "I’ve been hearing more Drs say anti inflammatories inhibit the healing process during the first week. I have always wondered why we would want to limit inflammation? Inflammation is the body's response to the injury. Wouldn't the body's natural response be the required response? By icing we would be dampening and reducing the body's natural reaction to the injury. What is the concern if we dont reduce inflammation? Is it just pain or is there further damage being caused somehow?

My question is this: For 2 weeks he said only ice no heat….after my second appt he Said same thing no heat…only ice…..I asked a few times he said it would heal better. From what I’ve read ice only is during acute phase and heat is very helpful later. I have A red light therapy device that should help healing but it does generate heat. Why Ice only…..?Thank you,

Hi Jared, this was one of your best video I've seen so far. Loved phase 3 the best. Have you ever sneezed on camera?
