Just pointing out, people still joke about it though. It's hurtful and invalidating. It's as bad as saying, "I'm a retard" or "that's so gay". Why would people think it's ok to say, "I'm so ADD?" when they're not. I mean, I've even called people out on it and they say no, they don't have it.

Every teacher needs to see this video. For 5 years, I worked in a Elem. Catholic School and the students had to fit the cookie cutter. Boys are sometimes naturally antsy in their seats. It doesn't mean they need a drug. To watch this video and to see the different types of ADD, not one medication fits all. I cried when Dr. Amen discussed Brianne. It wasn't her fault and then she soared. As a father, it must have been hard to watch, but you were in the right field to help her. The story about the couple was fascinating. Their child must have been finally able to breathe and relax at home. The diet at the Salvation Army and the connection to the prison rate. These are all miracles. Thank you for sharing this video.

:3 O.o Plant-based is loaded with protein. Many of the record-breaking atheltes are plant-based/vegan. The longest living tribes are plant-based, and over 50% of their calories are carbs (latest science shows our brains developed from carbs, not carbs). Most of the Greek Gladiators were plant-based. Lol. Soil is getting worse and worse in most areas of the world these days for nutrients in food. Lol. At least he understands plant-based foods are powerful, as most people seem to hate much, if any, veggies, but it's sad to see that he makes the distinction. He's also against soy. The China Study is the largest study, and it shows people are plant-based. Inflammation helps create cancer, and soy fights cancer off. Soy has all the protein needed (but we need multiple sources of food anyways). Meat is inflammatory. The highest rates of osteoporosis are of milk drinkers. Drinking from cows is a relatively new thing in society. To drink milk when you're not a cow, and not even a baby. A lot of cancer, diabetes from saturated fat (the highest source is from dairy), etc. Our intestinal tract is longer than carnivores/omnivores. We have no fangs. No night vision, unlike true meat eaters. Cooking meat makes it carcinogenic in the air, and people are still very unhealthy from it. The mass world hunger, and mass deforestation it causes to feed these animals that are r*ped into the world, and tortured. Plant-based milk sells far better in several areas of the world. Vegan mockups are better in tastes, textures, nutrition, sustainability, ethics, and pricing. So, a handful of what he says is wrong. Plus, Big Pharma isn't so good, so I'll disagree with that, too. However, great stuff for the rest of the stuff.

:3 But at least he starts people off on natural supplements first before any Big Pharma stuff. Big Pharma is often loaded with bad bodily health effects, most bipolar people in the UK say they prefer being off lithium, several school shootings are tied to black-labelled so-called antidepressants (last year so-called antidepressants were debunked by peer-reviewed scientific studies, and on top of that, Big Pharma never even had studies to back their drugs up, apparently), financial costs, etc.

This video showed up in perfect timing and is possibly the best and most empowering video I've ever watched on the subject. I'm about to embark on the Keto diet with intermittent fasting and now know what foods to buy to cover my fat and protein intake - and knowing the difference between the different Omega 3's is incredibly helpful too. I have inattentive ADD, am over focused through C-PTSD and also have a high number of autistic traits. I've also began putting on weight after following a vegan diet which was filled with the wrong types of carbs and my body has become totally inflamed. I am hypersensitive to medications and went completely mental on SSRIs - twice. Losing my mind was possibly the scariest thing that ever happened to me - I didn't think I was ever coming back and so I'm very reluctant to take Ritalin or Adderol or anything else synthetic. It's such a relief to know what I need to do to get my life back on track. I'm 51. It's never too late. To anyone out there who has struggled their entire life, felt useless, misunderstood and like you're spinning your wheels and burying yourself deeper every time, I hear you. We've got this. It's not our fault.

28 years old married with a 15 month old daughter. Just discovering I have ADD as my life and marriage has began to suffer as life gets busier. Had always heard of it of course but never believed it was me. Didn’t really believe in it personally through all the bad stigma it’s gotten. However desperate for help as an obvious type 1 classic add I began to seek out help and am just being diagnosed. Took a mild stimulant reluctantly and I can’t even begin to describe the excitement. It has been absolutely mind blowing and life altering. I wanted to hug my psychiatrist whom I was reluctant to see I now think I may owe the upturn in my life to. I wish I would’ve seaked help sooner. My life would not have progressively suffered in the way it has over the past few years. Not to mention High school would have been easier. Moral of the story I believe wholeheartedly ADD is real and after you hear someone describe the previous 20 years of your life to you down to a T you will too. I would love to get a scan like this.

Wow, this described me so much. I “fall in love” with a topic and I will obsess with it for awhile… months or a few years… and then suddenly, the obsession will wind down and I will have no interest. I discovered I have to ride the wave and learn as much as I can and be productive while I’m in the obsessive phase. Then I will usually have another topic that gets my fascination, and I try to learn as much as I can about that. Usually I will come back to something again after a break of a few years. When I am in between obsessions, it is very depressing not to be interested in something.

I was diagnosed with add when I was young and since then I've tried different medications and pills and nothing seemed to help me. I procrastinated everything, I was always unmotivated and extremely lazy to the point where it took a toll on my physical health. In the last year or two alone I've gone from 230 to 280 pounds. I'm 21 and still living at home with my dad, not because I don't make enough money to move out but because I used to manage my money very poorly and totally disregarded bills. My cousin recently started taking vyvanse to treat add and suggested I try it to see if it has any affects on me and I figured I may as well try it and see how it affects me. After taking a 40mg pill of vyvanse it was like a fog had been cleared from my brain. I was suddenly motivated and energetic about everything. I've become much more social and self confident. My whole life socializing was a hard thing for me because I would always have too many thoughts running through my head that I'd get lost and unable to focus. It's also helped my physical health. I'm losing weight, my skin is much more clear and healthier looking, I eat much healthier now and cook much more. I'm overall happy with myself and comfortable with who I am as a person and my life is going to turn around dramatically because of vyvanse. I don't believe in miracles but this has been the closest thing to it. I feel as if my life has been saved.
That is a good news !!! Want to try that one but on a waiting list. My son want to try Foquest

So I invited him to fill my heart with His Love and Heavenly Peace to overflowing.🙏😌 I felt his love surround me like a warm comforting blanket. I no longer worry about what anyone thinks of me. Whether they like me or not. Care about me or not. Knowing Jesus loves me by dying on the cross to save me from hell is more than enough for me! Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful (humbled and his disciples of peace). Colossians 3:15 NIV🙏😌 My heart is filled with so much of his heavenly peace that it overflows with heavenly love. I feel so loved and cherished. NO ONE AND NOTHING CAN EVER HURT ME AGAIN! Now, I am at peace with everything and everyone in my life. I can even forgive and bless my enemies! If you haven't already, I encourage you to invite him! He is knocking at the door of your heart waiting for you to open it so he can embrace you with Heavenly Love! JESUS SAID keep your mind on him and he will keep you in perfect heavenly peace. I am now centered, grounded and balanced in Heavenly Peace. NO ONE AND NOTHING WILL HARM YOU WHEN JESUS IS IN YOUR HEART.🙏😌

I couldn’t do it and they did it for ages I was crying trying to complete the test. But my eyes kept jittering about.I’d been seeing a psychiatrist for years who thought I had depression. He did a adhd test and I scored 42/100 with a baseline 32/100 with add. Because I wasn’t hyperactive despite constantly being messy and never be able to sit still. I could never watch tv because I’d get bored. It’s a mess for relationships because I couldn’t relax. It’s been a hard road but I’m glad that I’m slowly getting better. Hahaha knowing now that ADHD is indeed a good term, it’s frustrating hearing him say that half the people are not hyperactive. Half of the ADHD population (women) tend to have hyperactivity “in the brain”. A hundred thoughts all at once, scattered, disorganized, causing distraction and memory issues, poor retention, slower processing. You’re welcome for the update 😊 Now, the best term is widely seen as something with the words Executive Dysfunction Disorder because that’s ultimate symptom that LITERALLY ruins our lives. 👩🏽 🧠 💩 🪦 That’s our main complaint. We SEE no progress in our lives. We have little consistency and then the reason is because of all the other symptoms. Low dopamine, only have a little energy to do a few things, etc etc etc.

Great video. One caveat about stevia, it's been shown to possibly disrupt communication between bacteria in the gut. Now what that exactly means I'm not sure, but I know it disrupted my digestion. New science, unfortunately. And about therapy, I wish therapy did much more to push things like exercise, coordination exercises, nutrition and meditation, at least for patients where it would be a good fit. I find many people are actually harmed by therapy and some therapists essentially blame their patients for not being cured by being told to do things that are already obvious. I wish instead they would, at least worth some patients, that it is a fit for, push them to do these healthy activities to address the underlying dysfunction in the brain. I work in the world of occupational and physical therapy and they do this all the time with neuro and pediatric patients and I think this approach needs to be dramatically expanded.

This is so brilliant, I'm sad I didn't see it sooner. Thank you for this amazing work! In the 90s they gave me a bunch of different drugs to see (to see!!!!) if any of them worked... it was hell. Welbutrin made me suicidal. My boss said she'd have to put me on disability if I didn't go back to before the drugs... The upshot was "guess what, we've decided you're not bipolar!" after almost destroying my life. Now I'm 2 years past an autism dx (the ever-so-helpful doc said, you're the worst face reader I've ever tested, and in another moment said, (because I'm a published playwright who teaches and got an MFA after being thrown out of high school and college), clearly you don't need any support, wth????) and I'm sure I'm also ADD. I am a 49 yr old woman and DESPERATELY would've loved to learn more about the, (possibly controversial?), Type 8, head trauma induced ADD. I have had approx 7 significant concussions, and the symptoms I had as a child fall squarely into the classic symptoms, but they have exploded in nature, plus additional symptoms. I wonder if these issues are being magnified due to the head trauma or the advent of the hormonal peri-menopausal changes. Please consider sharing any information in this regard, I cannot find any GP, OB/GYN, or local psychiatrist that has been remotely interested or actually exhibited a curiosity in helping or attempting to give me any type of clear diagnoses. I'm tired of being told that I'm bored, depressed, over-indulged, narcissistic, attention-seeking, etc. I frankly loathe physicians, at this point, have ceased making appointments with them, do NOT want to try, yet another, antidepressant, and would prefer never stepping foot into one's office, ever again. :) Thank you so much for this information.

What saddens me about this presentation and other things I’ve read about the Amen Clinics are: 1) the lack of peer-reviewed research on the clinical use of SPECT for Dr. Amen’s purposes, and 2) the number of psychiatric professionals who think this is unethical for both practical and financial reasons. As I listened to this I found myself feeling hope well up within me thinking “Wow, maybe I should consider this for myself and my family? Sounds like it could be very eye-opening!” Then I researched the cost, online reviews and feedback about the services and methodologies, and realized how many conflicts of interest lines were being crossed.

You do realize his clinics have THE BEST outcomes and success dates compared to typical psychiatrists that just guess with medication right? You are failing to understand that when treatment works well it willl effect the money of other peoples. And than that can trigger people to go on a witch hunt and make up lies and fake accounts to bash someones reputation for all the wrong reasons and for only greeds sake

I have adhd but my Wellbutrin and Ritalin are a good mix, I feel really bad without my Wellbutrin but maybe it’s just withdraws, I heard getting if anti depressants is really intense, it’s been years …
@Lana.JesusSaves
Жыл бұрын
I have been on and off Wellbutrin because of side effects like quick to anger and or paranoia. It works SO well for a while and 2-4 months in the side effects become too much and I feel good enough to get off it…and a month later my ADD symptoms are back with a vengeance. Maybe I should try another. It’s hard when a psychiatrist appointment is limited and rarely covered

Seek an integrated GP or functional medicine practitioner that can request a 4 x neurotransmitter test for you. No one is using this tech to scan brains in Oz unfortunately, but the test can tell a lot about your individual brain function. Costs around $360

I find myself wondering if I actually have ADD, or even if I do if I actually need to be on these pharmaceuticals for the rest of my life. I’ve never had a doctor actually look at my brain, only throw darts at the board and see if it sticks without too much trouble. There’s things I would love to do in my life that being on these meds prevent me from doing, full stop. I can’t pass medical if I have to be on these meds. If I don’t HAVE to be on these pills, man, the adventures I could have!

The worst thing is i am listening to this whole working..(I STUDIED with the TV and RADIO on in grade school..) . I tested high for the best high-school in the city and failed 50% of my freshman classes.... I fell asleep during my IQ exam and many of my exams... if i cant finish fast, i get distracted.. i had depression meds as adult. (Knew that was wrong) I had Ritalin got into some problems..I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DOCTOR.. BUT me and school.... they gave me blk coffee as a child... i was in nursing school and worked full time-over.time...... yet to study for boards was excruciating... then my school crashed... and no license... i could cry.. I know how to solve problems almost immediately and yet it takes me forever to start the paper work...like WoW....lol...😂😂😂 I also bump my head as a 10 yr old... my brain remembers that pain... I think i want to study this..😅😅😅 laughing because i know i may not start to find schools until next year....

This is great information! Question: Dr. Amen said that neurofeedback recently received an A-level scientific evidence rating from The American Academy of Pediatrics as one of the promising treatments for ADD...Wouldn't it make sense for a clinician to get a pretty good indication using QEEG brain mapping in conjunction with standardized comprehensive medical and psychological history/questionnaires to help determine appropriate therapies including neurofeedback training without the potential risks of spectrometry?

This is fascinating ! I would love to hear your thoughts on childhood ocd. My 15 year old daughter is struggling with this and it’s heartbreaking and mind boggling. I’ve looked in the pans/pandas route. She does have a gluten sensitivity and dairy sensitivity (casein). I’m trying my hardest to research and advocate for her.

Dr. Amen, I have your book and it's changed my life. Just reading the case studies alone gives me a sense of hope. But I can not for the life of me figure out which type I am. I have taken the assessment twice and come back as Types 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 both times. Which makes it feel completely impossible to self-treat. I have no clue which supplements to use! I wish so badly that I could come to get a scan from your clinics but I haven't been able to keep a job consistently enough to pay bills and feed myself let alone get scanned. I feel confused and alone. I don't know where to go from here.

Common quackery. Sorry folks. I want to believe this (I have ADD), but the data don't support it. Other red flags: Amen has a multi-million dollar house on the coast and does informercials here and on PBS. He pays PBS for the airtime and he chooses PBS as a platform because the PBS audience is a rich one. If you have ADD do get help, but the road will not be as short or as easy as this salesman would have you believe.
