Thank you, Father. From AA: “Resentment is the "number one" offender. It destroys more alcoholics than anything else. From it stem all forms of spiritual disease, for we have been not only mentally and physically ill, we have been spiritually sick.” It does what? Bother? Disturb? Annoy? Impede? Injure? Weaken? No. It Destroys.

AA: Dump the junk When this was at its most intense for me, I remember the sense that someone (Holy Spirit?) was in my attic digging through this dusty accumulation and I was stunned at the things coming to light. Fabulous, Your Grace. I learn so much from your insights and gentle presentation. Glory to God! ☦️ ❤

The analogy of the hoarders garage and turning on the light made so much sense. Thank you Metropolitan Jonah ❤❤❤

This was specifically needed today. I was overwhelmed with worry and dread. All my mind wanted to do was bring up things to be concerned with. Like you said “the devil doesn’t really need to bother us, we destroy ourselves just fine”…it is true. But sometimes the conscience can be pricked and it spirals into oblivion. Spirals so far and so fast that it’s hard to even know what bothered the conscience in the first place. When that happens it feels like demonic assault. This video really helped me remember to do as much work on resentment and confession as I can. Thank you, your grace.

Vladyka, how should Orthodox Christians who are in 12-Step recovery fellowships approach the issue of the prayers used at meetings? Should we absent ourselves? Join the circle but not say the words and pray a different prayer in our head? Or just join in? Thank you

How do we avoid sanctifying ourselves into lack of feeling and compassion towards the suffering of others? I'm asking this because that is what happened to the members of a meditation cult i once belonged to. They detached themselves from the world to the point of thinking they were above all suffering.

I'm more in NA as I'm a diverse recovering addict but we got the steps from AA and yes we work on resentments then as a Orthodox Christian I have to work on it in Holy Orthodoxy.

I also attend NA. But I struggle with what to do about the prayers, as we're not supposed to pray with non-Orthodox.

@@joer9156 i completely get it. I don’t pray with them. I pray the Jesus prayer quietly every time they do “prayers”. We aren’t praying together because we aren’t praying to the same God.
