Much needed ... but when is it too late for the need to be met. I recall IWDM[RA] in 2007 Ramadan Session say, as he was encouraging his audience to write books; " You will write your, you will WRITE YOUR NOVELS ..." That did it for me as O find it utterly impossible to transmit my story of trauma, a traumatic life long lived, before I recognized its abnormalities. I tell a story about the sinner who went into the confessional to confess his sins to the Father, and after about five minutes, the Preist came running out from the other side of the booth and started pummeling the sinner. In case you are not aware of it , in the Catholic paradigm, you can confess anything to the priest, and it is safe with him. I mean everything, and he will not judge the petitioner who is seeking to be absolved of their sins. What happened in that booth? Well, as my novel reads ,the long line of petitioners seeing this fiasco fled the scene in every single direction while their brains were screaming, " I TOLD YOU SO ... " This is not the ending of my novel. However, the pount I want to be understood is that our Imam, I believe, understood that, in many cases fiction is a better vehicle to tell a truth than the truth it's self. Trauma is a truth too many of us know. The trick is, in my opinion, is how to divest one's self of its sharpest points that continue to pierce our very souls.
