I’m a true believer in the healing properties of music. After all, we are all made up of vibrations and frequencies. A curious debate amongst music healers revolves around the tuning of A at 440 hz (which is what has been commercially accepted as the global agreed upon standard since the 1930’s) vs tuning to A at 432 hz, which many people claim is more resonant and harmonious with the natural frequencies found in nature (Schumann resonance, golden ratio, etc)…I believe you can make healing music with any base frequency, but I will say I always find something deeper and more flowing when I play in 432 hz tuning. In this video, I was just playing around making a sound bed for a new 432hz Handpan I bought and decided to improvise some guitar over it. The result was probably the most “healing” and expressive improvisation I’ve done in a long time and I’m happy I had things set up to record some video of it and can share it with you.
Also, I think “music healing” often gets pigeon holed into things like sound baths and crystal bowls and calm meditative music, which is definitely valid and serves a great purpose …. but there is very little that I see out there about the healing nature of improvisation, flow, and harnessing the creative nature of music to heal and explore deeper into the soul. For me, playing is the healing.
