Frankie is a 1968, Franklin Caravelle, I bought at a garage sale for $300.
Not being one to let; "not knowing how to do something" stop me, Frankie’s renovations became a significant part of my own healing journey.
Learning how to use power tools, what paint is suitable for aluminium, how to use fiberglass, and how to make curtains and cushion covers, all helped me gain confidence in my ability to independently achieve creative goals.
The subject matter for Frankie’s interior cupboards are all based around my research into healing.
I had recently been diagnosed with Coeliac, an auto immune disease where the body doesn’t absorb nutrients properly if gluten has been ingested. Not long after that, Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
It was a dark and intense time for a few years, but painting was my grace.
There are still parts of Frankie that need finishing, and maybe it is soon time for some colour glazing, but for now, we are enjoying each other’s company, as we watch the seasons change in the garden and Cedar sleeps nearby.
Frankie would love to hear from you. I promise to pass on the message.
