Thanks for the great info! We also need to move away from privatized for profit healthcare and to Universal Healthcare for all free at point of service. We are all good and hardworking people and this is what all Americans deserve!

Thank you for introducing us to Marisa and the Eliot Lewis Center. I know they visited The MS Dream Center in RI. Unfortunately I missed it. A lot of GREAT info.

Apparently, Medicare will pay for only 20 PT sessions per year. My PT had to do assessments and, if I met the goal, Medicare would say that I didn't need PT anymore. If I didn't meet the goal, Medicare would say that PT wasn't helping. This might apply to patients who were recovering from an injury or a joint replacement, but not to progressive MS. Can anything be done about this?

Yes that’s accurate, unfortunately. At this time, the best thing we can do if have PT’s advocate for more visits in the notes they send to insurance by giving lots of reasons on why it’s necessary for this progressive disease (unlike orthopedic injuries). But even then… sometimes they won’t allow more sessions. In my opinion, Insurance companies weren’t built to help people with progressive diseases but rather short term injuries.

❤Gretchen. My question to her would be, "what is age of oldest ms pt who visits your Center" Ty

Peer to peer with a non-peer. What a joke. The insurance industry is such a racket.
