I was diagnosed with Hashis over ten years ago. I have had great results taking my thyroid meds daily and trying to cut back on gluten. Because it is autoimmune, you body will attack the thyroid gland so replacement thyroid hormone will be required down the line. It is a harmless very very low side effect medicine. I hope everything goes well for you!

Hi Brittany...I am a teacher, also have Hashimotos and applaud your attitude! I too have read Dr. Isabella Wentz's book [among many others] - you are on the right track, and you can free yourself from a lifetime of medication if you stay vigilant. I have found great info on KZitem from Dr. Brad Bodle and Michele Spring. Good luck, friend!

I was diagnosed with Lupus after my son died. He had cancer and was sick for about 4 years. It wasn’t until he was home on hospice care that my autoimmune system started going totally haywire. PTSD really does a number on a body. I was actually attacked in my bed when home by a stranger when I was pregnant with same son. So, I already had been diagnosed with PTSD from that. Then a new PTSD diagnosis after he passed away… then all the issues with arms, feet, hands, elbows, and yes, the ANA positive results. It’s so good that you are sharing your journey. This will help someone else.

thank you so much for sharing your story ❤️ theres so much that i relate to. my health issues started in late 2018 after a series of traumatic events. my symptoms have mostly been stomach pain, nausea, weight loss, fatigue, and brain fog. i had to take a semester off of college and transfer to a school closer to home. later i had to move off campus. i was a "question mark" to my doctors for a while too but eventually was diagnosed with lyme disease, celiac disease, and chronic gastritis. im still not sure if we caught everything because the treatments haven't been working as much as i hoped. i still feel sick all the time. just like you, one of my main motivators for getting better is the idea of being a mom one day. it's crazy to think a lot of this could have been triggered by trauma and makes me feel extra angry/hopeless about what a certain man did to me. therapy and treating my mental health have been really important part of healing. im rambling but thank you sm again for talking about this!! seeing someone a little older than me who also has an autoimmune disease still manage to be a teacher and a wife and a happy person is so inspiring and gives me so much hope for my own future.

Hi Brit! I was diagnosed with hashis in 2020 after I gave birth to my daughter. The doctors discovered a thyroid issue during pregnancy and I was on medication during my pregnancy but they think I had a thyroid issue for much longer than that! I’m still on medication and it is my hope to go into remission. I wish I had more info before starting the medication but I was just so focused on having a safe pregnancy that’s why I started it then. I didn’t know much about thyroid issues at the time and I just followed whatever the dr had suggested. I’m so glad you discovered medical medium too, because I truly believe food and nature can heal! I hope to see a functional medicine doctor too! I think trauma and anxiety has definitely played a role in my autoimmune issues. My endocrinologist really gave me no hope to go into remission, but doctors still don’t know much about autoimmune issues, and some not even nutrition. So I completely understand the struggle there. We have to advocate for ourselves and honestly work through different foods, protocols, etc to see what works for us. Every day looks different, some days are harder than others and I know everyone experiences it differently, but I know a lot of us can relate! Trying to go completely gluten free and dairy free has been my goal, as well as incorporating more protocols. Let 2023 be the year! Would love to connect ❤ my insta is @raining_matcha

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s 15 years ago and have been on thyroid medicine ever since. No side effects but sometimes I feel like it’s not doing much. I ordered a book by Izabella Wentz about Hashimoto’s protocol so once that arrives I’m diving in to hopefully find other ways of healing myself (in addition to medication!). 2023 is my year to finally feel better. I wish you the best.

So glad you persisted and were able to finally get some answers! If you haven’t yet, definitely look into getting tested for an MTHFR gene mutation. It’s incredibly common in women and can contribute to thyroid issues (and lots of other things), and doctors rarely test for it. It’s especially important info to have when you’re considering pregnancy. If you do have it, some simple supplement additions or changes can make a world of difference. Kathryn Morgan has a great video about this as it pertains to Hashimoto’s. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0WuNvaForYp_qZw
