@@damfeller6978 You are close, but you're a half step low. "rayh72" has it right. It is "C standard" tuning. That's what all the sources say that I've found, plus I have "tuned up" (down) to it and it is indeed "C standard" tuning, which is down - "a major 3rd" - or, "2 whole steps" - or, "4 half steps" - a k.a. "4 semitones". So, if you tune down that far, then an A note is the 4th fret up on the open 5th string, which would normally be C#. Technically A is still 440 Hz, but the "new C#" note is now an A note (440Hz). Don't ask me what the new open A string is in hertz, I just know it's an F note. But I leaned decades ago that he is tuned to "C standard". But a lot of bands DO use a "B standard" tuning quite extensively. I've learned a lot of weird tunings from grunge, metal, and alternative bands. It can get pretty technical & complicated.
@We_Seek_Truth

@@rayh72 Yeah, 4 semitones down. And I was thinking the same thing, slack tuning makes string bending a lot easier, even close to the nut - on the second fret.

This is a reprehensible disservice to history and Hendrix's legacy. Please take this video down or post the whole unedited video, so the magic of he's performance is not tainted and permanently ruined for future audiences because of your poor video editing and carless disregard for the artistic process. The only real acoustic performance by Hendrix and you cut it short at, "Gunna make a whole lotta money". Well, Warner Archive, it's obvious you only put this up to make a whole lotta money and it's shameful for you to arbitrarily cut up this man's musical performance (permanently affecting the way generations and millions of people will forever see his music) and purely for profit. When i first heard this i just thought about how cool his vibe was, how he played the blues in a unique way, but now its so obvious that this "cool vibe" its just him honoring and letting out his connection with his cherokee roots and the blues. Thats where the "goat" or "genius" magic is, when you are connected and true to yourself and the art you're crafting. And he knew that at a very young age, bro was something else for real.

Don't compared nowdays fashions in guitar with this. If Hendrix improvised this... Wow. If he just played something he did created before... It's still wow... You can think in any sense you want. This is genuine anyway.

For my fellow guitar players, what tuning do you think this is? To me it sounds like double drop D. And Jimi doesn't always pick up the 6th string with his thumb as most would assume, he really goes back and forth, sometimes fretting it with his 3rd finger depending upon the cord shape, especially in the first position.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't 1973 because he wasn't alive and it's really hard to perform like this from the afterlife. If anyone could though it be the Magic Boy

Notice how, again, Jimi's playing a righty guitar strung lefty (pic guard is above where he's strumning rather than below).

Why would you cut this performance off 3/4 of the way through? If you think I will watch any more of your Time Warner crap, guess again. KZitem clips of the full song are a dime a dozen
