I'm so glad you guys found this new way of prayer. I started journaling a few years ago when my pastor taught on God's voice and how to hear God's voice and journaling. Ever since I started I fell in love with hearing God speak to me specifically. My life has transformed in so many ways since journaling. I like to physically write it out and I start with thanksgiving, things I might be confused about, then requests. And then actively waiting on God means expecting Him to care enough to respond. Humility and surrender is key. For me I write my prayer first and then wait for His voice that is (like they said) a spontaneous flow of thoughts that come from your heart. And yes, my pastor taught us that God never says something that doesn't align with His word. My advice to anyone who wants to do this is first to ask God to steady your heart, ask of Him, then quiet your heart, don't limit what you write. You'll be able to see what encouraged and what wasn't aligned with God's word or His character. It could be frustrating if you analyze what you write down too much. Believe that you hear God's voice as you are His follower because Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27). I suggest reading John 10 the full chapter to understand beforehand how it's possible that God wants to speak to you. Ask Him to help you to receive His words that align with the words from the Bible. You will get better as time goes on and lastly, be honest with God, let Him know how you feel even if you don't have the right words. Once you start making this a very regular thing or daily pursuit God will begin to show you things you never knew. It really is the only way to pray now for me in private prayer. Even if I don't actually write it down at times, I am ministered to by His Spirit as I minister to Him. It's amazing and I love it.

Love this! A way to develop a more intimate relationship with our Father. Think of your relationship with your spouse. It is not a one way conversation, but rather a communication between two people who love one another. God loves us so much and desires to be our first Love. This requires 2 way conversation. He is such a good and loving God! It boggles my mind that the Creator and King of the universe desires an intimate relationship with us!

Like, when you are seeking wisdom on what house to buy or what course to take at Colledge. Holy Spirit can directly speak to us and help us and guide us into the right decision. I hear God best when in front of the blessed sacrament during adoration. Back in the fall, He told me things will need to change by spring and I’ll need to leave my job. Didn’t specify- just “leave (your job by spring), greater things”. I was shocked, it didn’t make sense. I thought about it for weeks, it didn’t go away. I thought maybe He wanted me to apply for another job or enter a new career field. I went ahead and put in my notice, and we budgeted and prepared for April+ in case I was jobless. I had nothing planned , it was such a gamble but we prepared. Mid March comes around.. and I’m let go from my job 2 weeks before April because of the virus. And by mid April we became pregnant, after almost 2 years of infertility. I’m so blessed to have this child, I feel like God is preparing me for one of my greatest roles, we have not hurt financially from the pandemic.

Great topic. I had an encounter with God about 6 months ago and since then I have been talking to God daily, like He is with me. He invited me to do so whenever I wish. He always starts with how much He loves me. At times I’m nervous to tackle big topics with Him, but I’ve learned to push through and write down all I hear. It’s amazing how fluent we now converse. I don’t speak to people about it as it is very personal and I have found they easily shoot it down like I’m making it up. My relationship with Him is in a good place and satan and his minions have turned up the attacks because they hate that I’m drawing near to God (James 4:7&8). Bless you guys.

Been doing this for a couple of months now. I’ve always loved journaling and I too have lots of books in my room with written word. First time I wrote in first person I was shook. I read what I wrote the morning after and I was in tears. I felt an overwhelming love from those words. They were so gentle and peaceful. Something that I definitely wouldn’t have known to pen down. It’s interesting to note that sheep do actually respond only and only to their shepherds voice and not any voice. It’s a learnt over time so I’d encourage y’all to press on in love in hearing God’s voice.💕 Also, I read or heard somewhere that God confirms things to you how He speaks to you. Idk, to any one who needed that... that’s how you will know. All the best opening your spiritual ears and eyes 🤗

Interesting. During my first journal session one thing I wrote was “I am the Shepard. My sheep find me”. Which I found out is Basically John 10:14 (without even knowing this verse). Can you explain more about what you mean by sheep only responding to their Shepard’s voice and not any other voice?
@gloriakosgey8044
4 жыл бұрын
Rob Rutkowski I was watching videos on YT and came across scientific research on why and how sheep respond to their owners voice and not just anyone else’s. Here’s one (of the many) link to such: kzitem.info/news/bejne/xmpryoqdkJmHaWk And yes, it did confirm John 10:14. I meant when you are in steadfast and continuous touch with God (through prayer and stillness) you will know which voice is his and which one isn’t and thus respond accordingly just like the sheep do to the shepherd’s voice. Be cautious though, the enemy is a master of disguise. The spirit of discernment helps differentiate between counterfeits and the truth. Always take it to the Lord in prayer whatever it is that is written. To get: 1. Clarity. 2. Further Explanation. His ways/words come with peace :)

You are both fun, positive, and often inspiring to watch, & seem to have a zeal for The One and Only True God. I was reading through many of the texts below, but ran out of steam when I realized there were almost 400! Wow! I’ve noted once b4, you certainly have quite a following, most of whom seem to admire you and trust you/your thoughts & suggestions. While you present this vlog as a 2-way discussion, I see your “physical” validation of posts (via ur pic with the heart on it) that ONLY support what you’ve shared. I was relieved to see that others, although the minority, respectfully relayed major cautioning & concern for some of the things you are “testing the waters” in. I’m not asking for you to “love/like” comments that you don’t like, but please truly consider the discernment of those of us who sincerely worry for you & your vlog followers❤️.

I wonder what you are worried about? When we draw nigh to God … He will draw nigh to us. And as they said, align what you hear to what you understand the scriptures say, especially as it relates to God's character. We can trust our inner sense, where the Holy Spirit dwells. I see the joy on their faces as they journey in this "new" direction. That speaks to me of the fruit of the spirit. A good guide I reckon.

My worry, like some others on here, is that what some well-intentioned Christians think is drawing near to God shouldn’t be a “feeling” or “sense”, it should be 100% verified by God’s WORD! (bc while yes-the Holy Spirit definitely resides in those who are truly born again, Satan is the Great Deceiver. No, he canNOT “possess” Christians, but he sure as heck works to OPPRESS us!) Those sidetracked by the NAR and/or WOF movements, seeking the “awesome feelings” of supernatural signs and wonders of God, too often look for new revelations. The Holy Bible IS our Father God’s revelation to us. At the same time, I want to clarify that while I do not discern that God literally speaks new revelation to us, I absolutely believe that He puts things on our hearts, that we can easily verify through scripture🙏

Additionally, while the Holy Spirit resides in us, and we are fully forgiven by Jesus’ blood on the cross, what we sense/feel can be the sin nature that still draws us while on this earth. False prophets, eg Todd White, Benni Hinn, Bill Johnson, & many more leave beaming smiles of what appear to be bliss on the faces of those they deceive. In no way does that joy mean the person is experiencing something Biblical; quite the opposite☹️

Then just read the Word, don't add to it. The bible warms against it. You will receive all the answers in His living word. Test everything against scripture. We are in the flesh, which is innately sinful, but His word is what we can rely on. So if you rely on your own thoughts or what you may think God is saying might not be Him talking.

Roos Hobers Please be careful. Why not pray and ask the Lord to patiently teach you to hear when He is speaking to you? And then allow Him to teach you over time through His Word and the Holy Spirit, as He wills. It's dangerous to try to use a formula to talk with God. He cannot be put in our little boxes. His Word is our most reliable source and should be our best friend. Test this method to see if it stands up to Scripture - is there anywhere in Scripture we are asked to do this or even anything close? Not that I've seen. In the book of Acts, God speaks again and again to his church in different ways, visions, dreams, and speaking to them, etc but nothing like this. And He usually speaks purposefully, giving instructions or teaching. Not merely reaffirming things already stated over and over in His word. Ephesians 1:17 - 19 is a good prayer to pray for yourself, it's what Paul constantly prayed for the churches. For God to give us spiritual wisdom and understanding.

We are putting our house on the market as I knew when we purchased it, it was just for a season. I thanked God for the years we lived there. Then I thanked him for where he will lead us next to live. I feel he told me last year that it was time to sell. I needed confirmation from my husband. Then suddenly a month ago, he told me it was time to sell. This house was a needed respite for me. Now this season is now over and I am at peace because I knew God confirmed through my husband.

You can do this with Bible Study. God’s Word is complete, in full context. Ask for His discernment when you open His completed Word and have Him show you what He is saying through His Word. Ask Him to guide you to deeper understanding (ie. How would the original audience understand this through their culture of the time, etc.). He has promised that His Word is true and complete, trust that rather than a random voice writing without discernment.

I can not wait to try this. I've honestly never heard of journaling like this but I have always wondered if sometimes God is talking to me or if I'm talking myself. I have actually prayed that the Lord would speak to me and help distinguish his speaking from my own thoughts. This is an answer to my prayers and it reminds me just how great God is. Edit: I tried this and it woked! God spoke to me about so much and it was an incredible experience. I still however had doubts that this was actually him and not just me talking to myself. Although after questioning him if it was actually him he gave told me to read a certain Bible verse immediately. The verse I read was 1 John 5:21 which says "Dear children, keep yourselves from idols." He had just finished telling me about something I should give up because it was preventing me from drawing closer to him. This wasn't a coincidence, it was God. I will continually meet with God and I pray that you will too.

Hey there! Speaking from a place of love, I wouldnt recommend doing this. I used to do things like this and recently realized that God never ever says in the Bible that He speaks to us this way, there are other ways He speaks but thid isnt one of them. It is super similar to new age automatic writing which the use to communicate with spirits or demons as well as, if you do this this would technically be adding to Gods word and He states that He would not do that in the bible. I highly suggest looking into it or it could get into some really not good stuff. Not meaning to attack it just concerns me, hope youre doing well :)

I also listen and speak to Him every day, but in stead of focusing on what comes up in my mind, I just read during my silent time a portion of His Word. Just the next chapter from where I ended the previous day. It is amazing how often that just connects with what is going on in my daily life. And in that way never a doubt if it is His voice or not. After watching your video I had some double feelings: your sincerity in the desire to hear God's voice and live for Him. At the same time we can be misleaded so easily in our minds. If it gives you peace and security, it is from God.” I related so closely to Sutton saying she felt like she was missing something in her relationship with God, and the mission this video has brought is monumentally helping mine. I had an amazing experience today that I have written down on a sticky note 💛 Thank you for this video and your faith!

This is amazing!! I am blown away! I started doing this last Sunday. This week is the first time I've done this and I was prompted to do it by God and I was telling my mom about it today and telling a friend about it last night. I am in shock that you guys made a video about this. Thank you Jesus for confirmation!

This is really cool, you guys. I feel like when a lot of Christians talk about hearing God's voice it becomes something we idolize. Y'all presented it well, that the focus is not on the experience but rather on knowing Jesus better. Thank you!

This was very inspirational. I have so much going on in my life and I felt Him speak to me. The one thing that I felt He asked me was “Who do you say that I am?” I said out loud “You are the living Father, the one who sent His only Son to die for me.” Felt so real. Thank you for this video!

Hi Nate and Sutton, I'm not sure if this is discernment or just my reasoning but this practice does not seem or feel right/of God to me. It feels occultic even if I didn't know what I'm about to tell you. I do believe that Nate's cousin and you both are well meaning and I respect and am inspired by your channel and relationship. However, I don't believe that it's a coincidence that after seeing this video on my feed for a few days, the same day I finally decided to watch it was the same day where before watching your video I watched a video on tiktok criticizing the author of "Jesus Calling" and the book itself of being occultic so I looked into it. "Jesus Calling" was written by Sarah Young and was inspired by "God Calling" written by A. J. Russel. These 2 are criticised for using automatic writing which is the practice of allowing spirits to write through you or in their case allowing "God" and this is the same practice that you're describing in this video, this practice can be seen as witchcraft, new age or a part of the new thought movement. A reference website is "Womenofgrace.com/blog," she speaks on both of these Authors and books. These 2 authors promote the same practices you speak about in this video exactly: blank mind, writing what flashes across your mind, speaking as Jesus in first person etc, without you referencing these authors I could tell it was the same doctrine even though you reference Mark Virkler's interview videos which I watched in its entirety and got the same off/odd feeling, I don't know if he was influenced by them. Don't get me wrong, I do believe that God can and does speak to our hearts and I also believe He speaks through dreams sometimes because not all dreams are from God, He speaks through His Word and He speaks through people and through circumstances. I also believe in spending quiet time with God but that that quiet time should be filled with reading and meditating on scripture, praying and praising God through song or words, not an empty mind which I believe new agers also practice in becoming one with the universe during their meditations. I personally would stick to reading the word and praying and whatever stands out to me from scripture and whatever is impressed on my heart through prayer I would take those as from God; as it relates to impressions on my heart through prayer I try to keep in mind that I'm human so I could possibly be wrong but if it lines up with the word I accept it. I believe you can pray and then listen to what God may be impressing on your heart but I don't believe in dialogue in the sense of a series of back and forth speaking and hearing back from God. I know you're most likely praying about it already but I would still like to encourage you to prayerfully look into it more and reconsider your decision to make this practice apart of your life. My suggestion to Sutton feeling like something is missing is to yes spend more time with God but pray audibly if you don't already do that, try fasting only consuming water for even a half of day and continue to read and study the word and worship God as you listen to worship music, couple prayer is good but try praying alone more frequently throughout the day, throughout the week if you can for a period of time till you get your breakthrough, your prayers don't have to be long but just pray even when you don't feel like it and you don't feel His presence yet; those things work for me. I hope you see this. 🙏🏼

Guys please stay away from it. It’s so dangerous. Things start simple and beautiful and then you find yourself trapped from demonic spirits. The trap starts when we have the thought that we are in straight contact with God and we don’t need others to advice us. A good friend committed suicide after the suggestion of this voice. This is not God. Please please please stay safe. Don’t be excited about those stuff. God acts much simpler than we think

I like to say it this way...when God speaks to me it is His spirit bearing witness with my spirit. It isn't something that just happens. I have to be in sync with Him. I have to pursue Him. And when I do it is the most precious, peaceful, intimate connection. It's all about being open to Him and allowing His spirit to flow in me/through me. It fills me up. Nate, you mentioned having alot to write when God speaks to you and then sometimes you won't have as much to write. Sometimes I'm speechless. Sometimes all I can do is cry...because I'm so moved, touched, overwhelmed. And I think God's ways sometimes are too great and powerful and consuming that words simply fail. They are not adequate to capture the experience! Thanks for doing this video! It's a great topic to put out there. It has made me evaluate my relationship with God. I need to rekindle that with Him. It's time for me to be still!

I sit super quiet and don’t think or let my mind wonder and the Lord will talk to me or give me visions and take me into heaven (which sometimes I don’t realize it’s heaven til I hear others say they been to these places too) anyways y’all need to check out Eric Gilmore or Brian Guerin because they are big on intimacy with Jesus. Eric says “stillness is the absence of noise on the inside and quietness is the absence of noise on the outside.” When I first started trying to sit and do this “being still” it was hard to last 10 min at times but now I could do it for hours if time allowed. So many ppl give God a laundry list or pour out to him but how many are sitting and waiting for God to speak back. This is awesome y’all are doing this! It’s not about religion but about relationship. God bless y’all. This is awesome to do and be sharing with others. It has greatly blessed me to have relationship with the Lord. All the Father wants is for us to be near him in intimacy and mirror the love back that he gives to us.

This makes me think of a time when my husband and I were going to church religiously and also doing at home bible study, well we stopped I cant remember why we stopped but I do remember being in the kitchen and washing dishes, when the random word in my head came up, and the word was, "bible study" well I told my husband about it at the time and we just started going back to at home bible study, it was really wonderful. Another time and this one is recent, I was reading the bible and asked God what he wanted me to do, and I kinda just sat there staring at the bible, and the words came to me, "start from the beginning" Well I didnt know what God wanted when he said start from the beginning but since then I just decided to read the bible from the beginning! God is so good. I think that this is a great idea and I think I will try it out and do the journal thing! God Bless!

I remember a few months ago when I first heard about this type of journaling, I was very skeptical. I thought it was dangerous and heretical. But as I got closer to God and He revealed more of Himself to me, I found myself journaling like this one day without even realizing it. It was so clearly God’s words that I was writing down! I can’t explain it. It’s exactly how Nate and Sutton describe it, and it’s amazing! Of course there’s always a bit of caution needed, but when you are convinced in your spirit that the thoughts you’re hearing are directly from God, no criticism or skepticism in the world can change how joyful hearing His voice makes you feel. ❤️

God feels so far away at times even to people who seemed to be closest to Him like David, In Psalms, David constantly asks God to not be silent, to hear him, to answer him, to turn His ear to him, but then God says He is right with us always, every step of the way, at all times even those times when we feel like He is far away! Differentiating our thoughts from what God is actually saying is not a one time 'encounter' It's a day to day journey of dependance on the Holy Spirit to help us hear God's voice. I hear God speak to me in some situations and then at times I cant tell if it's me or Him speaking and this brings my heart to prayer. Some days His response has mostly been silence but I've prayed 'Lord even though I cant hear you at all right now, I trust you to influence the decision that will eventually come out of me because I know You are alive in me.

Hi Oliver, I was also saved recently and I believe the best thing you can do with your time is read the Bible! I wouldn’t try to discern thoughts until God has given you the wisdom of His Word. I can suggest Paul Washer’s studies in Proverbs on KZitem. Wonderfully solid! Meant for teenagers but good for us kids in Christ. God Bless you and remember if you have truly repented and believe in Jesus, his work on the cross and his resurrection then you have been forgiven for your past. Be safe out there! The devil will try to lead us all astray.

Hello, Oliver! :) I agree with Kate-Louise. Go to the Word first and build wisdom from there as your foundation. Let the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you as you read. Hey, ya'll! This practice does sound fascinating, but my only major concern is trying to discern God's voice without using a Bible, which always confirms the authenticity and relevance of what we're hearing so that we aren't led astray by what we think, and the way we find God when we seek Him is through the Bible, not our own thoughts.

I alot of the time don't know why we exist because I have no joy anymore since have a full hysterectomy 7 years ago. I pray for help, strength and healing as well as Gods direction but feel as though He turned His back to me even though I know deep down that He is with me always but I cannot find any comfort. This also runs in my family so it's like a double depression. I don't think that I will feel joy, peace or happiness again. I do appreciate this message so thank you. Please pray for me. What I was told, when I was saved eight years ago, was God’s voice sounds just like you. Only says things you’d never say, albeit a compliment to yourself or giving direction of things you wouldn’t do in the natural. Like praying for someone who really hurt you. The Holy Spirit 100% speaks to you. There is something absolutely supernatural and beautiful about this. You aren’t mindlessly praying or speaking to the Lord, you are praying, we just haven’t been taught to pray or receive this way. As long as it lines up with scripture take it and bear the fruit for HIS glory!

Sharon Claassen - Please be careful. There are no scriptures in the New Testament that support this practice. The best way to hear God's voice is through his word. Ephesians 1:17 talks about praying for God to give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. Pray for God to teach you as you read His word, and you will hear His voice. If He wants to speak to you in other ways, that will be up to Him to do.

Remember it always has to agree with the word of God... there are promises I am still waiting for that were given to me over 30 years ago, but it is God’s timing not ours. He is getting His bride ready for His return, to make us without spot or wrinkle . He wants to equip us to bring in the harvest. His children that truly love him hear His voice and with the anointing of the Holy Spirit in Acts we will see signs & wonders and many miracles in these last days before His return.

Hey! I'm so glad you came across this idea of intentionally meeting with God and listening to him. I learned this while I was in a disipleship training school (DTS) and I just felt lead to start journaling and writing my prayers down. Then as I asked God to speak what is on His heart for today I often times wrote down amazing encouragements and reminders that were alined with God's word. Also sometimes some things have not made sense in the moment, but later on that has encouraged me so much. I learned to do this kind of thing also to other people. Praying for words of encouragement, Bible verses that might encourage or speak to my friends. What is very important is to distinguish God's thoughts from your own thoughts and the lies of the enemy. Simple way to do that is that according to the Bible God's words are always encouraging, convicting, lifting up, giving hope, edifying and building up your faith. The enemy's voice is accusing, condemning and brings hopeless feeling, for example. Often times I notice that the words of God are something I wouldn't have come up with my self, and they just bring hope and peace and streangtens my faith. Also, we have a whole book filled with God's voice, the Bible!! I think the more you know the Word, the more you hear God speak to you and you also learn to recognice what thoughts are aline with his word. God has made himself known to us in his word. As we seek him, we will find him! Lots of blessings, you have been in my prayers!

I've never tried it this way like intentionally. But, I have journaled my prayers since high school and I also write down a verse or two that the Lord spoke to me through or that stuck out to me in my reading. Recently, I was struggling with something and I was up until the wee hours of three morning just pouring my heart out and writing down my prayer to God. About half-way through my prayer, for some reason I paused. During that pause I heard God speak to me in the most fatherly and gentle and loving tone. He said, "I did that not because I wanted to bring you pain our cause you hurt. I did that because I love you and it was needful to put your eyes on Me and for you to realize your need for Me. I did that because I am good and I only seek to give you the best." It was then I broke down and cried no longer out of anger, hurt, or bitterness. But, instead I cried for forgiveness for not seeing the purpose for what happened and out of shame for how I could've been so blind and selfish for my thoughts. It really brought me healing and helped me. I've only heard the voice 2 other times: the day I got saved and one other time during my prayer journaling. It is a voice that I've never been able to adequately describe or duplicate. All I can say is it is gentle and loving.

I have heard His voice 2 times ..once audible as it woke me from sleep , saving me from a fire in our Camptrailer and another time He spoke in thought form. .telling me my long awaited Prayer would be answered and a few days later it happened just as He said it would..which took a huge Miracle! But this being said...I never had to ask and wait in silence for His Voice or answer...both times it came suddenly and took me by complete surprise! My suggestion is to keep a Scripture Prayer Journal. When I am seeking God's leading I search through the Bible and God usually leads me to the exact verse that speaks to me or addresses the problem I am dealing with . I take that Verse and personalize the verse to me in my Journal. Then I can go back and Pray through these Scripture verses over and over and it is so comforting! I put the date and time that God gave me the Verse too :)
