We moved to Bransholme in 1968 when I was 12, lived in Ashworthy Close. Back then it was a great place to grow up. Had many friends and we got in to quite a few scrapes. Will always remember Bransholme Youth Club and the Friday Night Discos put on by Blacklight. First heard Oh You Pretty Things and the rest of the Hunky Dory album there. Great Days. It was a bit rough around the edges but I will always have fond memories

I lived on the estate from 71 - 87 with my three brothers, Phil & Craig. It definitely taught me a thing or two!! Great time growing up in the 70's & 80's on BHE. Still remember playing football for my close/garth Biggin Ave. In them days you had enough players age 10-20 from each close playing other closes, mainly on 'doggy'. I remember some of the guys on the video, 'fat jack' was one of the characters of the estate in them days. Had many great laughs at the Youth Club that was held at Bransholme High School. Great Sound track - Life Kills by The Human League! At the end of the day you get out of life what you put into it!!

This was made in 85, I lived on the estate in80-82 and it was going down hill then, I left Britain and moved to Germany and was astounded at the difference of the estates here to those in Britain, here they are not allowed to degenerate the way they have in Britain, every three years the authority do an assessment of the housing stock and they are renovated.

I had similar experience travelling round Holland in the 90's. You could tell you were in a poor council estate, you get a sixth sense about that sort of thing, but the facilities for leisure etc in Holland were amazing. Basketball courts, football 5 a side pitches, community centres, all pristine with loads going on, really well funded and you could tell there was care there, these facilities were valued. Stark difference.

Wow what a trip... Spent many a school holidays in the maisonette complex which we called the Follies, most of which i remember being covered in scaffolding. A great playground, jumping of balconies, running across the roof tops and climbing the scaffolding. I'm sure my friends and i can lay some claim to have started free running there in 1984,85,86. I must confess we did set fire to empty flats and the garages quite often, but i was only 11 or 12 and a bit of twat. Enjoyed watching them being demolished too. What's wrong if he is Welsh - at least he is employed. Every time I visit Hull, Bransholme is always in the paper. Some people just never want to work, so why should they think benefits are a right. Gentrification in London for example was necessary as slums are not for the 21st century. People need to move with the times. No wonder most of East Yorkshire residents did not want to join the city's council. Labour run authorities do not spend money wisely.

Also unlike living in areas like Springbank or Holderness road it was surrounded by countryside, well the Garths was anyhow. In them days everybody knew everybody else who lived in their "street" it is true in the 70s people did leave their door unlocked unthinkable now, mind their was nt much worth stealing then i guess. We left Bransholme in the early 80s maybe at the right time as the country started to have abit of a heroin epidemic mass unemployment ect

The first people to move in to Bransholm were not off Hessle road,, they were from Saxby and Grasby roads off Holderness road. They moved because the prefabs they lived in were to be demolished and that is where they were sent to. Glad I found this because it bears out every thing my parents told me would happen there. They were among the very first to move in back in the late 60's. Apart from the housing there was no reason for it to exist, no jobs, no community, just lots of nothing, 50 years later it worse than then by the look of this. I was got out and emigrated.. with a big push from my folks. I often wondered how it all turned out now I know, it will take a while to sort out.
