And still shown on one of the ITV channels Very occasionally, they fail to do the edit for modern adverts so you get the old Yorkshire Tea sponsors Heartbeat jingles

@@Trek001 I haven't noticed the Yorkshire Tea sponsors Heartbeat jingles in the ITV3 broadcasts. When have you noticed this?. I have noticed that many episodes, especially the earlier series eps have alot of cuts to them, not just with mild swear words and graphic scenes but also with certain words or mannerisms which they must think is too woke or PC for the target audience (which is mostly aimed at anyone over the age of 70). In "Going Home" from series 3 they edited out the word "tinker" referring to Irish travellers, and they cut out the scene from a series 2 ep where Greengrass is eyeing up Gina's miniskirk and legs when he's ordering a drink. Also every "bloody" and "bugger" word has been cut out. Yet, oddly I rememeber in a very later series ep a character called his wife a bitch which was never cut out. Also shots of dead bodies on stretchers (ie with the Riders of the Storm episode) and a husband hitting his wife have been cut. They've obviously cut those scenes out because they are trying to make the much better earlier series blend in with the awful later series. The only good thing about the ITV broadcasts is that they include all of the original songs from the Beatles, Stones, Who etc.

Nick Berry looks so young in these early episodes but then in 1992 neither of my daughters had been born, who are now 25 and 27, you forget how quickly time goes by.

I remember being allowed to watch this as a kid in the early 90’s here in Canada. My mum is British so we watched a lot of British shows. This one was my favourite. I remember being allowed to stay up until 945 on Friday’s. I loved this show. I’m 33 now and was basically a baby when it first aired

@@LivvyAlexW I'm surprised that Heartbeat was being shown overseas even in the early 90s.

@@johnboy4067 I don't know anything about that. I thought it first wife was Rachel Robertson, though prior to him being in Heartbeat I had never heard of him before as I wasn't an Eastenders viewer.

The first 3 series of Heartbeat where Heartbeat gold IMO. I'd say series 3 was the best out of the lot but series 2 was very close behind. Series 3 just had everything going for it in terms of storylines and some great humour moments, good pacing and the right music chosen for scenes (sadly ruined for the DVD releases due to Beatles music rights issues). Series 1 and 2 were probably the closest the show had got to recreating that early-mid 60s feel. Watching the later episodes from series 10 onwards there is just no comparison to the brilliant earlier series.
