I casually attempted poh snare for a few months without success checkin out multiple tutorials. Decided to keep digging and realized I hadn’t seen Bass Venturas poh tutorial. Instantly locked it in like half way through his video. All thanks to one simple change Bass Ventura does compared to everyone else’s method. He explains it very comprehensively. Wish his was the first tutorial I watched. Surprisingly easy.

The “laser” sound you describe is called a “poh scratch”. Your chat descibes it as a poh snare, wich a lot of people do, but technically it is a scratch. It also sounds a lot more like a scratch than a snare, so i actually don’t know why somebody ever came up with the name poh snare, because nobody uses it as a snare 😂 heartzel uses it a lot, but it was actually made popular and refined by a beatboxer called given. He has the cleanest poh scratch you’ll ever hear and he can consistently use it and spam it like nobody can. He also has a lot of cool and interesting routines

I learned from chezame's tutorial and it feels easier with how he explains it to get the sound, while heartzel's helps you master it

As a ‘’poh master’’ I learned a lot of people the poh snare friends and family and i can Say that for all people i learned after i show them the Bassventura version they learn instantly, with all the tongue in the top of the mouth, also is more easier to use in combos and is louder, the Tongue down is not as clean but is more is more high pitched that’s why is harder to master it but, this is my first sound i learned in beatbox 5 years ago accidentally and I love it, (this comment was just a tip)

@@beleaff I second this. Just left a comment saying how I couldn’t get it watching everyone else’s. Didn’t even know BV had a tutorial, and didn’t make it half way through his video before I was all up in my cats faces poh snarin with some celebration dance like an idiot. An idiot that could poh snare. Heckin ya

my best tip for inward bass is breathing in normally while having your throat in a halfway swallow if you gag youre doing it right
@indigoendo570

learned in a couple weeks ago from a remix stream, just relax your mouth completely and breathe in, then close your throat like youre gonna swallow, halfway through the swallow, breathe in like youre taking a normal breath,

Yup this works but it gives its own texture so after you get it down you can isolate the actual pressure and change it. I can do a remix/intertia type inward aswell as a d low inward and Im learning Improvers inward vibration rn

lil hint for the poh snare: the air goes through the 2 sides of your mouth and not from above your lip, u gotta have the middle of ur tounge at the top of the mouth so that no air goes through there, it actually feels a bit weird how u can feel the air going along your tounge from both sides and I believe when I learned it it even tickled me a bit (got a tiny sound the first day and learned it completely in about a week [Disclaimer: no learing a sound is not mastering it ;)] )
@b0sspls622
10 ай бұрын
a even littler hint - you can make that sound your own way too, a much easier way imo is just doing it on one side, i do it on one side only, dont even need both side
@himechin.

For the poh snare u have to try and do it while following the tutorial in front of a mirror (so u can see your own mouth shape and u can adjust is) Also just keep going at it, it’s just like whistling, u try it without having any succes and suddenly after going at it for hours, a few days later suddenly a tiny sound pops out

Im not a beatboxer by any means but i love watching it as well as following some tutorials' Everyone says some sounds come easy for different people. This happened to be one of those for me. This is one of the harder sounds to learn and I got it about 5 mins after watching this tutorial. its 90% tongue positioning 10% air control. Just like everything though, practice it for a bit and youll get it. you wanna keep your lips tight kinda like youre making a butthole, pause. Think of it like blowing out candles, then get the tongue positioning. Theres another tutorial on yt that shows how to place your tongue! GL

inward bass is practically just like basic chest bass but inward, if you have chest bass, just breath in and out with the same typa placement eventually the inward bass would show itself

2:27 What you're doing is called a "vocal fry". Inward bass is lower down in the throat.
@Lamb_o7
Жыл бұрын
2:35 you are doing inward vocal fry, its a very poplar misconception for inward bass, which i am also guilty for, its important to realize that sooner than later. Inward vocal fry is still a really cool sound once perfected (DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE, some people say its a "cringe" sound) edit - you know your doing inward bass correct when you gag while learning it....

The easiest way to learn inwardbass is saying "A" inward, when you feel the vibration then just try to keep it and you can play with variations, saying "i", "e", "o" and try to take it on high pitch

My favourite beatbox sound of all time is probably the easiest to learn, it's called Crab Scratch and the best beatboxer to ever do it was one of the first beatboxers that ever became famous Felix Zenger. Probably one of the single most important beatboxers of all time, first beatboxer to go viral on youtube, nastiest crab scratch ever

To do the disending whistles make "E" and sit the tip of your tongue on the back of your bottom teeth. And switch between an "L" (tip of tounge on roof of mouth ) and "E". While doing a medium outward breath .

Both Herzel and Chezame say to put the tip of your tongue on the bottom of the mouth, but I find it easier if you touch the roof of your mouth with the tip of your tongue instead. It is all about making the tongue into a ball for the air to go around. I find the way I do it is not quite as strong, but it easier to do and easier to combine with P sounds, like kick drums and PF snares. IMO at least. I am not an expert.

hey man, I nearly got the Poh sound, I think a good piece of advice at first is to experiment with tongue position, mouth shape and air pressure, looking for that whistle tone, also, the air seems to come from the sides of the tongue....you may need to use more air than you think at first, good luck man!

2:27 This stuff that u r doing is "Inward vocal fry", and it's a completely different technique Inward bass is much harder. But tbh, to figure out how to do inward bass - Just cough. Have u felt that scratch or smth in ur throat? Great. So now u need to get that tickling inward, and then put more pressure in it. You'll need at least a month to get it, and literally a years to master it.

Man just relax your mouth and put your lips in the position like when you whistle try to put all the tongue on the roof of the mouth with the tip of the younger in the back of the theet because is easier to do and control the sound so will be cleaner and Ayer you do all of that don’t forget with the face and moth relaxed in the correct position just try to get out the air scratching your chicks, is a very easy sound in my opinion I learned it accidentally 5 years ago but i learned some friend to do it from first try they did it, I hope I was helping for somebody, much love everybody
