Heat the Streets is a Kensa initiative that, over its two-year duration, will aim to install ground source heat pumps in new and existing homes across Cornwall. The residents' new ground source heating systems will also be connected to Kensa's innovative shared ground array infrastructure, a communal network of underground pipework that will extract renewable heat via boreholes. Once installed, the boreholes will be visually unobtrusive, providing a reliable heat source all year-round.
The project demonstrates both how and why street-by-street installations are the most efficient, and effective, solution for the roll-out of ground source heat pump technology at the community level needed to tackle the climate crisis and help the UK reach its net-zero target by 2050.
In this video, Stithians resident, Stacie, talks about welcoming the new technology into her family home and how the project is helping her.
