That's a nice bass! I've caught a few there as well using some keitech and dropshotting them. I've heard really mixed reviews about the bay bass flavors. Have you tried them before?
@SvenGoesFishing

I actually have not :o most of the time I don’t catch legal bass. I feel like the bigger ones prefer to chase swimbaits or lures but I always bait and wait 😂. Even so, when I do catch a legal one I just let them go c: I appreciate the fight more than wanting to eat them haha

@@SvenGoesFishing Nice nice! I think most of us love the fight for sure! Have you considered trying a lighter setup for these fishing trips to enhance the fight? Considering the species that you mostly target, a light or even ultralight set up may be even more exciting!
@SvenGoesFishing
2 жыл бұрын
I actually have considered running lighter setups, but since I mainly fish jetties and rocky areas, I always opt for heavy setups to get out of tight spots or cut through kelp rather than snap my line. I try my best to make sure broken line doesn’t end up floating around in the water. However, when the weather gets warmer and I do some more surf fishing, I’ll start using lighter setups for sure! (That and it’s a pain to cast heavy setups over and over again for surf fishing 😂) a legal sandbass on like a medium rod with 20lb line would have an awesome fight though c: my buddy caught a 23 inch calico bass at the surf before, I bet that was super crazy good 👍

@@SvenGoesFishing yeah they're quite common here in SoCal but they're most abundant in tidepools or any areas that contain a bunch of rocks facing incoming waves.

@@SvenGoesFishing yeah just a silly catch and release. They're really cool to look at in the water though, where you see that they have these hairlike projections above their eyes called cirri which you wouldn't notice out of the water. I personally like to take a small photo tank with me for the small interesting fishes so I can see these features
