We ventured up to the Scottish Borders in search of heather and wildlife, combining a mixture of Landscape and Wildlife Photography.
We booked into a nice little cottage on a working farm just outside of Selkirk which gave us a great base to travel out from. Over the week, we traveled to the Pentland Hills where the heather was just phenomenal.
We hiked up to the “Three Brethren” on the Southern Uplands Way where the old estate boundaries of Yair, Philiphaugh and Selkirk come together at the top of what is today Yair Hill Forest. At the top, there are three massive cairns, constructed by the respective landowners in the 15th century. What an amazing view up there.
We found reservoirs with amazing views and great photo opportunities as well as a trip over to the coast visiting St Abbs and Dunbar. The weather was very mixed which gave us some great dramatic skies and of course a lovely rainbow to top it all off.
All images and video footage has been taken either from the car, strolling on a beach, or from a public footpath to minimise any disturbance to the wildlife. This video collates highlights caught throughout the week with the following equipment :
Road videos : Gopro Hero 12
Wildlife videos -Nikon Z8 / Nikkor 180 - 600 f5.6 - f6.3 lens
