I can’t tell you how many times I have drilled or cut on the wrong side. You have a really good discipline to weld in those holes and grind smooth. Nice welds , geez , what a perfect bead! Those are some bad boy brackets, probably could winch off those. Would love to see them once installed.

Hey bud, try setting up the camera behind a welding hood, until you get a filter for it. This will allow you to shoot the actual weld being made.

Great video as usual buddy. Your blade will last longer if you cut your angle iron with the angle facing up. It's in most instructions for these new chopsaws.

JIMBO, greetings from the OC.I gotta say nice welds. I am a new subscriber, found your video by accident and I am glad i did. I work at a metal shop and we use sheet metal and other metals like the ones in your videos. I have access to a lot of scrap/ left over material for me to try several of your projects. Like the table, desk and coat rack. I thank you for the ideas.

Nice presentation. A few suggestions. If you put a little weld prep on your butt joints you should be able to lay down a bead with little or no grinding. I have found that the quickest way to clean your nozzle is to pull it off, turn it from end to end and the ceramic end will push the slag out. If you also dip it in a nozzle cleaner every now and then, that slag will for the most part fall off without intervention.

I'm in big trouble I need your help and I need it tonight specifying my first time welding the brackets on a second-floor floor supported with a 24 ft beam against the two side mechanical framing of the structure of the building I need your help because I have an actual few questions because I have a little bit of box steal that the railing system is built from I can take that down and make this support I just don't want to go to the steel company to buy metal

Just recently saw the exact same mistake of drilling the holes on the wrong side of the angle on another KZitem channel I watch. I could see how it could be an easy mistake to make.

Great vid ! You guys work like a well oiled Machine, If you want to eliminate that build up on your Mig cone and tip, buy a little tub of TIP DIP at your welding supplier you can dip your tip and cone into the gel every four or five welds and you will not have any build up on your cone , each day after your done welding just take your cone off run a paper towel through the cone just to clean the tip dip residue out of the cone , You'll have a perfectly clean tip and cone. .. just a little tip get your cone hot before you dip it otherwise you will have a big glob in your cone which will make mess .

great vids as always Jim, nice to see someone leave there mistakes in instead of editing it out. Can i ask, ive noticed you dont clean the scale off before welding? do you find that your mig plant is powerful enough to burn through it ok? only reason i ask is i recently had a weld failure on a plate that had a thick layer of scale on and the weld did not penertrate. thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks for watching, I don't seem to have any problems with the mill scale, I seem to get good welds and penetration. Jimbos garage!
@pulse5217

The scale SHOULD be removed, but using a higher quality wire, such as ER70S-6 vs E70S-2 (electrode quality with the #6 characteristics, vs non electrode with #2 characteristics.) The higher the number on the end, the better the wire because there are things added to it to help clean the metal as you weld (even though you should prep it before). The power of the machine has nothing to do with burning through scale and stuff. Hope that kinda helped
@melgross

No, the wire isn’t better. For,clean material you don’t want 6, and in fact, there are a number of specs where 6 isn’t allowed.

great video, just one thing i want to say. I dont know what those brackets are going to be holding, but half inch plate should not be welder with mig, especially w/o removing the millscale and beveling your butt joints. Like i said, i dont know what they are going to hold but if its something heavy and or something that is going to be taking stress your welds might fail in the future. just thought i would say my share, ive seen many mig welds fail out in the field do to cold fusion.
