Robert, thank you so much for making these videos. I've just started my HM collection and your channel has been invaluable in making sure I know which issues are out there. I have a question for you though, what do you do when you look on eBay and find that sellers are charging $30-50 per issue? Even for recent ones? Do you try a Best Offer for retail price and see if they bite? Any other tips?

Glad I can help Derrick. Let's see if I can truly be of assistance here. Firstly, become a member at heavymetal.com . Buying from them and then getting notifications allows us to get the jump on new stuff as well as exclusives. If you buy HM at your local comic shop they are not going to get every cover. They will be able to get everything but exclusives so being in the loop with HM is important right there. HM always runs sales on back issues. there is one going on now and the prices are very good on back issues. As for paying 20-50$ for current issues? I wouldn't I'd get a search going on eBay and when that issue is listed you'll get a notice. This is not going to work for everything since you are getting to the party a little later than you'd like to. Getting say #278 Mermaid is not going to be easy for cheap since they are long sold out and it was seemingly short printed because it is a variant. Have searches going for issue #'s and dates so you get a better cross section. Make offers on things that have been up quite a while. Eventually realistic prices must be achieved. If you are patient you will win out. If you've watched my videos then you know patience is the name of the game. Bona Fortuna...

@@NitroModelsAndComics thank you sir, much appreciated! I just joined HM, started a subscription (both for new releases and an archive one to fill out those 90s and 00s issues that are lower priority for me). Just grabbed a bunch of back issues in the sale (focusing on the "low quantity" issues). Over the past week been picking up some lots for 70s and 80s, would rather have those in hand sooner than later and the prices on them are quite good...also you wouldn't believe it but I snagged a Fluorescent Black variant without even really looking for it, it just showed up as a suggested item while I was looking at other issues, and for a great price. Couldn't believe it. I have a feeling that 2011 SDCC variant and the Mermaid variants will be really tough, but I'll play the long game and see how it goes. I'm just a bit shocked at what people are asking for issues 260+. I know many variants are currently sold out but I'm seeing a 500% or more markup! Thank you for the advice on the searches, it'll practically be a full time job keep tracking of everything but it's a lot of fun. By the way please keep making videos, including new HM issues! Always love hearing your thoughts on the covers.
