Returning to the live performances from the HebCelt Survival Sessions which were streamed from and recorded in An Lanntair Arts Centre in Stornoway in July of 2021.
For day 7 of our 12 day’s of Christmas we have a beautiful Gaelic love song from the Scottish folk scene super-collective Staran.
Staran, featuring some of the most sought-after artists on the Scottish folk scene have come together to create a formidable collective. The group comprising Kim Carnie, John Lowrie, Jack Smedley, Innes White and James Lindsay released their eponymous debut album in May 2021. ‘Staran’, meaning path, trail or stepping stones in Gaelic, reflects the themes of ‘places’ and ‘moments’ that run through their music. The result of this collaboration is a rich and cohesive sound; atmospheric and textural with acoustic instruments at the heart of it.
There are more live recorded performances and other special moments from the HebCelt Survival Sessions still to come throughout our 12 Days of Christmas running right up to Christmas Eve.

Survival Sessions
The four-day event featured a special mix of live and digital content produced by The Hebridean Celtic Festival Trust and streamed from An Lanntair Arts Centre in Stornoway as HebCelt began the bounce-back from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The ‘hybrid’ event acted as a support for the local music community and provided a hopeful stepping stone towards the festival's full return in 2022.
