Exceptionally well done! I will say that I didn't find any moments that drag in a 3-player game, but I'll admit that I'm not turned off by bookkeeping.

I don’t mind bookkeeping either in some cases. I just felt that this game would be much better multiplayer than it is solo. Glad you enjoyed your 3P session!

@JohnLaRuffa As I may have mentioned, I bought it immediately after playing my first game last week. I was dismayed by the fact the Concepts booklet was only for KS Backers, as I know that I would greatly enjoy reading it.

Thanks for the video. I'm surprised, I thought you would enjoy it. Next game fair I'll have to try it with multiple players. I do like economics.

I am surprised too. I was eagerly awaiting this one but unfortunately, the fun factor was just not there for me. I honestly think that it was the policy voting mechanism that pushed it over the edge for me. That is a big part of the game and one that I just don’t enjoy.

Great play. On the fence about getting this one for solo. Especially when I find COIN games much more engaging for solo play - this one just somehow rekindles my desire to get back into that masterpiece which is Fire in the Lake. But I appreciate the effort. By the way, I think the deal card is discarded once the deal's been made. Thanks for your views!

I ended up selling it after I recorded this solo review. I think the COIN games are much more interactive in regards to a heavy gaming experience and are more interesting than this one.

John. Love your stuff. I like you find I end up doing solo games more. While I prefer group it’s not always feesable. Anyway, I was wondering if you could do or if you have maybe do a video or updated video on yourself what games you tend to prefer and in addition would really love if you could do videos now and then re-reviewing games that after the newness has worn off or more of the game flaws appear or perhaps something better came along Love the stuff keep it coming

I have a lot of Top 10 videos that show my favorites in many different solo genres. As for the second half of your request, I am going to find a way to do this in some never videos shortly. Thanks!

Great review. My take on these asymmetrical games usually give me a similar vibe. Root comes to mind where the design is highly creative but it doesn't allow you to play with the same creativity.
@JohnLaRuffa

Root and Vast are both very asymmetric and that is OK when the game is fun enough. This one just lacked the fun factor for me and so I had no desire to keep exploring the nuances that could be there in terms of gameplay and the different roles.

Once you learn the advanced automa rules, it's really not too bad. Yes, it does add to game length, but does a MUCH better job of simulating a human opponent. After a play or two, the checks go quickly. Give it a shot!

Thanks for the video! Do you think that playing against human players would impact your opinions of the overall game? I admit that the main reason I got this game was the offered solo mode so this video was really what I needed but if it turns out to fix your issues with multiplayer than I would work to find a group to play it with myself.
@JohnLaRuffa

I think it would be better with multiplayer for sure, but the solo mode was not bad at all. I think my main issue was more that the game just did not grab me.

Thanks for the extensive playthrough. Yeah I could see as you were playing along it became too much bookkeeping for myself. I definitely see where this can be a turnoff. I like the society/economic style games but the gameplay involvement was a major turnoff. Thanks once again until the next video.

So i didn't saw any free actions for the automa....how those are executed? Doesn't needs to be checked every time?
@JohnLaRuffa
Жыл бұрын
The free actions are linked with its main actions when it makes sense for them to do it. For example, if the working class get enough resources to grow, they will spend them right after acquiring them. In this way, they don’t really get checked.
