Helen Adam brings down the house, delivering her "Cheerless Junkie's Song" on October 21, 1977, at a special reading for The Poetry Center held at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, at its Van Ness Avenue location. The Scottish-born balladeer and "disrupter," in Robert Duncan's word, of tradition, shares the stage with James Broughton on the full-program video. Robert Duncan introduces the poets, with Lewis MacAdams introducing Duncan and, in the audience, Poetry Center founding director Ruth Witt-Diamant.
