pilots like: "USS McCain? wrong ship." BrrrZZZZZ "all these destroyers look the same."

@raemeredith lots if people fail to understand just how difficult it is to control a helicopter and how unstable they are. Then they forget to add the fact the ship is moving ahead and pitching / rolling with the waves. Just ignorance of the subject really. Also the same people who bitch about one running idle on the ground after landing and wasting fuel have no idea about the 2 minute cooldown period for turbines either.

@cellblock131 The ship is NOT named after Senator McCain. The ship is named after his father and grandfather, both of whom were 4-star admirals in the US Navy. His grandfather (who would be John S. McCain I (Sr.)) commanded various pacific forces in WWII with distinction. They are also the only father & son to achieve a 4-star rank in the US Navy. They are who the ship is named after, not the senator from Arizona.

All the people saying this is a waste of fuel and money have obviously never served in the military and don't know jack shit about safety. These are deck qualifications, meaning the pilots and crew are attaining valuable practice and certification. Without this practice, a landing situation could arise that they don't know how to deal with (high winds or rough seas are very common), and that's how accidents happen and lives are lost. Show some respect, flight crews and support work HARD.

@enriquelucha Bush Jr. had nothing to do with naming a Carrier after his father. Bush Sr. Was a Former President which most new Carriers are named after, not to mention a World War Two Naval Aviator.

Are you Army kblack? Because that looked like a textbook...3.0 degree SGSI slope approach to a darn good landing right on the spot and only slightly off the centerline.

I have something like 700-800 small deck landings in the B, I have lost count.. Flew B's from 92-06, now flying S's. That was too low and flat. I have never been wet but it does look like the typical HS approach. Daytime CAVU you can do stuff like that night unaided not a chance.

Its actually not. The Sierra has the tail wheel where normal UH-60 Blackhawks have them, at the end of the tail under the TR. This is an SH-60B/F (I cant tell which) It cant be an HH-60H or and MH-60R

@93CFD The SH-60F isn't routinely configured with RAST. It is only installed if they are going to be doing RAST quals.
