The double bridge stunt (4:46-4:59) is the best helicopter stunt ever made! To the top, left and right of the rotor blades and to the bottom are only max. 40 cm free! And this is made with the shown speed. Thats awesome! And 1982 there were no digital effects made in this movie.

Fantastic skills of these pilots in these stunts!! I would not even dare to fly that close to obsticles everywehe with my RC helis like they do in this stunt flying under this thight double bridge!! The loop after flying under the bridge in this canyon is as well ver cool! These pilots have skils and are brave like hell!!

Godamnit I've been waiting for this bloody film to come out on DVD for what feels like my whole fricking life. I used to have a VHS copy taped from the TV but it's gone missing. What kind of world do we live in where I can go pretty much anywhere and buy a copy of Stallone's 'Driven' but not get this anywhere? Jeee susss. C'MON.

I am very PROUD of these French helo's; the "alouette", I & II were such a Badass (and still today the Most Higher Helo ever, Himalaya !), and we can see a really nice "Gazelle" SA341 at the END...The hughes look like an egg, but it's good to see the bell 407, the fab four ! BTW, never forget tht the "Bird Of Prey" was a .... GAZELLE ! Most agile Hello, still today, though MD500 can do Looping (real ones), the Red Bull one ...

The stunt pilot flying the Hughes 369 - sadly no longer with us. The helicopter itself was destroyed in a crash not long after filming was completed.

Was it after filming was completed?
@newforestroadwarrior
Жыл бұрын
@@trailersic Probably. The accident happened on 17th April 1982 and the film was released in December 1982. I have a vague recollection reading somewhere that the dialogue for the movie was recorded after all the aerial stunts had been filmed. Hagman was quite hard-line about what he wanted to be paid and I think they wanted the option of casting another actor if he stormed off in a huff. In any case, I think all the filming featuring N4EE had been concluded by the end of 1981. Cinemas at the time were phasing out second features. I suspect "selling" an obscure chopper B-movie with JR in it was not easy.

@@newforestroadwarrior it's just that 2nd of 3 going down the canyon matches up to the kind of footage we're seeing here. like stuff that could have been after the planes attack near the end of the movie

Larry K. moved our drills at a mining camp near Fairbanks 1997 or 8. I could ask him to bring a piece of equipment down 1/2 inch, or up 1/2 inch. He would then bring it up or down 1/2 inch. Awesome pilot.

Echo that. Recently, a chopper pilot got permission to fly through Tower Bridge in London, as part of the Olympics opening ceremony. BFD!! That guy had YARDS to spare. But Larry had INCHES, when he flew down that storm drain. All these years later, I STILL can't believe it when I see it.

This is a classic Chopper flick! Directed by the same guy that did Birds Of Prey in 72. They made a mistake the way Birds Of Prey ended. If it ended differently this would have been the perfect sequel for sure!

Larry was one of the best "Lone Wolf" movie pilots I worked with. Whenever we need a 'hot shot' 500D pilot on Airwolf, David Jones' first call was to Larry. Tragically, Larry was killed flying tourists in Hawaii.

@cljohnston108 - Sorry for the delay in answering. This version was screened in BRITAIN. It was listed as a TV MOVIE - which surprised me - as at one point, Susan Anspach gives us a quick flash of her BOOBS (which didn't HAPPEN, in Seventies US TV movies!) Therefore, we must assume that British TV got given a copy of the film that had been INTENDED for THEATRICAL release - which perhaps, never happened. And further, if your DVD copy has been bowdlerised, maybe that copy is NO MORE.
