Fantastic app. I still use Helium a lot in 2024 - it can do a number of things that other apps can't. Thanks!

Well I was really loving atom2. But as usual you changed the game with this. Track ghosting is the best thing to happen to sequencing since sliced bread, and is making my life so much easier. What would be nice is the ability to select editing features such as select all from an external midi controller. Which would negate the need for menu diving ie hitting a pad on a korg nanopad or similar could sent a cc or program change value to helium to select whichever function is needed. Also for people using controllers that can transmit multiple parts at the same time, ie accordions, keyboards with split settings, or even hardware sequencers it would be nice to be able to arm several tracks for recording at the same time. Loving this so much. Well done again Paul

Yes, I love the idea Stephen of an AUTO mode for the CC lane that can flip to the incoming controller.... and multi-track record is on my list.... I will get there eventually mate.

Nice! Big fan of inverted lane colour. White lanes match white notes. Automation seems really easy to use. It would be nice if edited controller lanes were pinned to the top of the controller list, otherwise it's hard to track what you have edited.

You can choose to invert the colours if you want. I've geven you the choice but to be honest I like this look better.

Looking great, but really need to see how to construct a song from different sections, ie a master controller type track. Thanks. Also will there be any random option?

Excellent app. Do yo have recommendations for precision pitchbend? I use Geoshred a lot, and make mistakes that can be corrected, but it is difficult to tell how much I am bending a note from the display. Right now it is trial and error. Having a selectable amount of pitchbend (half step, 3rd, octave…) correlated to a horizontal line would be perfect.
@PaultheMusicMan

Yes, I agree editing pitch bend is a bit hit and miss if you get it wrong during recording. Not really sure what I can do here other than introduc more guides. Since the maximum pitch bend is governed by the synth itself and not always 2 semitones I can't predivt in advance.

@@PaultheMusicMan thank you for responding so quickly. What i was thinking is: Several midi apps have a pitchbend configuration. It is up to the user to configure both ends to match. You have 5 guidelines. Middle could be no pitchbend, one of the upper could be a positive pitchbend to configuration (maybe clip or snap to grid). Lower guidelines the same in reverse. Using your line draw combined with snap to guideline would help. Of course, if there is no demand for this, it isn’t worth adding. If there is, any improvement would be appreciated.

Hi Paul, I'm leaving this comment on all your Helium vids as I'd like you to read this and make a couple of IMPORTANT fixes! I just purchased Helium today (after some issues where Atom2 wasn't a good fit.) I have a song that is a swung 3/4. It's annoying that Helium doesn't have swing (I knew that before buying) but thought I'd just record my parts without quantisation. But it seems quantisation can't be defeated. And there is no quantisation value that will play my rhythm correctly, So helium is useless for this song! Helium needs swing. but it DESPERATELY needs a way to record with quantisation of required! Hope you read this and make a few tweaks! THANKS!

Thanks for another great tutorial. Question: I had a strange thing happen with controllers a couple of days ago. I had Track 1 recorded and playing back fine (chords on iSEM). I went to Track 2 to record a bass part with Addictive Pro. I'm sure I had separate MIDI channels set up on each. I was using the Mod Wheel for some of the bass part, and on playback, the Mod Wheel was affecting the iSEM part too... Gonna try this again today, and see if I was doing anything wrong or if it recurs... Otherwise, got the update, previous problems fixed. THANKS.

Yeah, let me know if you find anything. Sometimes its just a case of getting routing not quite right. Pleased other issue is cleared up. I'm quickly nocking over the issues and next version should follow pretty quickly now.

@@PaultheMusicMan Hey, Paul. Yeah, still happening. 1: using mod wheel to record a part on track 2, I hear it affecting track 2; but is getting recorded on track 1. I was very careful to route correctly; AUM ch 1 is routed to Helium port 1, MIDI channel 1 only. AUM ch 2 is routed to helium port 1, MIDI ch 2 only. Side question: someone mentioned a “random” function; what’s that?
@PaultheMusicMan

@@gtrgeorge348 The random function generated random MIDI notes over a specified range of notes which can be tied to a key / scale. This is coming in the next version. I will take a look into your recording issue and get back to you.

HI Paul, if you could kindly include a "STEP CHORD RECORDING" in an update, this would be perfect for people like me who's not proficient with the keys. Thanks
@PaultheMusicMan
Жыл бұрын
You can already do step recording. Long press 'Record' and select the 'Step Record' recording mode. Now, hit record and play your chords one at a time. The chord will be entered at the cursor position. The process starts recording once a note is pressed, so play all the notes in the chord as slow as you like. The chord is only entered once you lift all fingers. Hope this helps.
