The recent addition of the FLAM-60 Torcher as a flamethrower primary was wonderful as it allows for much greater build diversity on the Terminid front. While the Flamethrower stratagem is great for close quarters chaff clear, it takes away from a stratagem slot and requires a longer-ranged primary to better support it. Now that the Torcher exists, we can save that stratagem slot and give it to the Grenade Launcher, which has become somewhat of an underrated support weapon to bring on the Terminid front due to the increasing need for Anti-Tank.
While the Grenade Launcher does struggle with taking out any Tanks and Hive Structures, the utility it provides in clearing swarms of enemies and bug holes is largely looked over. Combined with the Supply Pack to counteract its small ammo magazine, the Grenade Launcher can be used as a fast-firing, deadly, primary with strong utility. To counteract enemies that get too close for the Grenade Launcher, the Torcher and the Redeemer can be used in a pinch - the Torcher for larger enemies and for slowing the advance of a mob, and the Redeemer for the stray survivor. The use of Incendiary Impact nades will also help cover bug breaches and weaken enemies for easy kills with the Grenade Launcher.
The next stratagem slot will be reserved for the Eagle 500 KG, which has a newly buffed blast radius that can be used to take out entire bug nests by itself. When used in consideration of the latest armor penetration changes to Terminid tanks, the Eagle 500 KG is downright lethal to any Terminid - and even if the 500 KG misses, the Torcher and Grenade Launcher can now be used for anti-tank purposes.
Pre-update, a version of this build used its last slot on the OPS for extra anti-tank utility, but now that this build has more tools capable of dealing with tanks, I decided to boost this build’s anti-chaff capabilities by bringing in the recently acquired Orbital Napalm Barrage, which has a relatively short cooldown but immense bug-breach counter potential. When used in conjunction with the Incendiary impact grenades and Grenade Launcher, this build ensures that practically nothing will escape the hellfire of flames and nades.
Overall, this build is an excellent example of the new build diversity that the latest Freedom’s Flame warbond and balancing update has given rise to. With the Grenade Launcher’s strong utility and the added survivability of the Supply Pack, this loadout is more than capable of soloing the largest bug nests and objectives. If you like unconventional strategies and a bit of solo play, this build is for you.
