Dana, thank you for posting this video, even if it was 5 months ago. :-) I have just started watching your videos which have been very helpful in my journey learning German. I'll checkout the Podcast as well.

Welcome back to KZitem, Miss Dana. 💫 Take the time wisely and get everything settled. By the way, embroidery sounds lovely, it takes a hard work to knit/sew/thread/yarn a beautiful art craft. 🎨

Köbes is a nick name of Jakob (Jacob). Back in the time when pilgrims walked the "Jakobsweg" to Santiago de Compostela and ran out of money in Cologne, with luck they got hired as Ober or Kellner (waiter). Because of the intention to visit the grave of Saint Jacob they were called Köbes by the guests of breweries (most restaurants brewed their own beer back then). This name is nowadays still common for all waiters in Colognes breweries. But be aware to be unfriendly and rude is part to be a Köbes. It is a game to entertain guests people who doesn't know this are shocked and offended by this behaviour. Be prepared if you visit a Brauhaus in Cologne.

Hi, I'm a teacher of German and English. I work here in Germany, so I mostly teach native speakers of German. I love reading and listening to a book at the same time too! Just reading often takes very long. When I'm just listening, my thoughts often trail off. I think the combination of both is just perfect!

since your English is about, umm, "flawless" I'd expect that English teacher follow you around. oh, and when I say that your English is flawless, this isn't "just" because it's your first language; there's plenty of folks that really don't command it very well despite that's their only language they ever acquired .. which is quite shocking, actually. the homeschooled kid from rural Texas that sneaks in about two types per word .. not an "urban" legend .. not at all, that is! there's Americans that tried to move to Canada and failed the English proficiency test required for that, I kid you not! 😅 cheers!
