Alucard hated being a monster to the point where he shed tears seeing his nemesis walk the same path that he did.
@Linkueianderson

It is really interesting to see a sadistic psychotic demonic vampire who has no remorse for his enemies shed tears for his nemesis Father Anderson as he saw him as a reflection of himself when he gave up his humanity. Alucard always wanted to find a worthy opponent who could best him without having to sacrifice their humanity. He wanted to die at the hands of a brave human who did not back down in this case Father Anderson and was not afraid of him despite being outnumbered , outmatched and overpowered. Alucard respected Anderson so much that he begged him not to become a monster like himself. It really shows the audience that even though Alucard is a bloodthirsty beast he regrets becoming a vampire as his life is full of sorrow , chaos and death with no end.
@jacktheripper3524
2 жыл бұрын
I dont fully agree with that statment. Alucard actually enjoyed beeing a monster because the strenght that he gained made strong opponents come to fight him and try to kill him in glorious battles. Isn't that what he always wished, to die in a glorious battle? Killing is what he loves, is what makes him fill alive despite he beeing dead at the same time. The only regret he had of becoming a monster is because humans, despite their failures, are creatures that may have a force inside them that gives them the will to live, while Alucard felt that force to die long ago, but when he saw Seras he saw in her that force, that's why he gave her the choice of becoming a monster at the same time she still keeped her will to live of her past human life. Alucard and Seras are monsters but Integra still loved them despite beeing a fragile human beeing. And they also loved her. Van Hellsong hated Alucard, but Integra loved him. I don't think beeing a monster is something considered "bad", what I think is that you can be a monster but still keep some traces of your humanity like the desire to protect your loved ones. Beeing evil and good at the same time is possible, and our beloved Seras is the proof of that, despite all the pain she suffered and the fact that she started to enjoy to kill like any true vampire likes, she still has good inside her. I think this is the one big message that this fantastic and master piece anime has to offer us.

Yes they are. Still, a monster is tragic when they had a good reason to throw away their humanity. And you look at all the villains of Hellsing (minus Anderson IF you consider him one), they became monsters for the trill of power and immortality. The SWAT team that invaded Alucard in the hotel even tried doing that. After all, it wouldn't have mattered if Alucard failed against them or not. Major would've fulfilled his promise because he was ABLE to vampirize any one who volunteered. If not, makes no difference. He always had contingencies. Luke, his brother, Walter, any other Hellsing villain that became a monster of their own free will, not the same reason as Alucard and Anderson. Hence what Alucard said; *YOU AND I ARE THE SAME! YOU ARE ME... Don't you understand? This is how I became what I am!*

odd to say but this is my favorite anime death scene. anderson is my favorite character in hellsing and he dies like a champion with an amazing speech. Anderson: Demons do not cry. Are these the tears of a long dead child? Demons do not cry. You became a demon because you couldn't cry anymore, right? Humans cry, and when their tears finally run dry, there's nothing left but a demon or a monster, and one final prayer for death. So laugh, demon. Laugh that arrogant laugh of yours, and remember... I beat you to it. So how long will it be, then? How long before you're no longer cursed to walk the earth? Alucard: Until the weight of my past is shattered by my oncoming future. It shouldn't be too long, my nemesis. I'll See You in Hell.

Anderson! Stop it! Do you know what that thing will do to you?! You'll become one of god's monsters! Maintain your humanity, Don't succumb to power. Either side, it amounts to the same deal. Whether in the name of the divine or the demonic, you're still a monster in the end. Do you intend to use that SCRAP of miracle, to become nothing but a scrap of miracle yourself? This duel. Between us. Would you really push it this far? Into the realms that lie beyond mortal life. A monster such as myself, a creature of such weakness that I could not bear the weight of human life. If I am to be defeated it must be by a human. Don't do it human......... Don't become a monster.... A monster like me... YOU AND I ARE THE SAME! YOU ARE ME!! I WAS JUST THE SAME! DONT YOU UNDERSTAND THIS IS HOW I BECAME HOW I AM! (Chuckles) Demons do not cry. Are these the tears of a long dead child? Demons do not cry, you became a demon because you couldn't cry anymore. Right? Humans cry. And when their tears finally run dry, there's nothing left, but the demon or a monster, And one final prayer from death. So laugh, demon. What's funny is Alucard never blamed Seras for choosing to become a monster, I think there are two reasons for that one is she was already a bit of a monster (see her flashback scene) while trying to be a protector and go beyond that. Second is she really didn't have much of a choice in the matter either he turned her into a true draculina and give her the best ability to choose her path or that idiot freak was going to turn her into another sad mockery.

@ValravnsArchive

It gladdens me to see that I wasn't the only one pulled from the brink of suicide by this masterwork. His speech on giving up in the 2001 series quite literally changed me for the better. "When we reject giving up, do we truly earn the right to transcend humanity. Never give up, even if it means death. That is the pride and dignity of our Master." I think he has a similar monologue in Ultimate, but I can't remember. That speech quite literally saved me from ending it all, and to this day, it still pushes me to keep fighting even when all hope seems lost. Never give up, even if it means death.

There is a deeper thought here. Even though Anderson says demons shouldn't cry, Alucard cries anyway. Is Anderson hinting to Alucard that the child inside him is dying? I think it was a hint that there is still something human inside Alucard. That's why he asked him not to cry, lest he lose his last tears. That's why demons, devils can cry. It's just that in Hellsing, it was veiled.

some animes are just too good to ever get boring this is definitely one of those, ranks right up there with animes like fate/zero and unlimited blade works, todd mcfarlane's spawn, guyver 2000s reboot as well as original, akira. So many that do such a great job in not just delivering action packed fights but also delve into the character development in ways that make you feel invested and stick with you forever. is just something have still to understand in the states as far as animation meets holly wood levels of story telling. Cant forget netflix castlevania or attack on titan or well we seem to finally be getting there as of late had some great examples have pushed the boundaries-kengan ashura, 7 deadly sins, tokyo ghoul...sure many many more but most have roots in japan and been re dubbed. If Catholic dogma is correct, I'd expect Anderson would go to Heaven. He doesn't seek power for his own sake like the bishop, he seeks it to overcome an enemy and protect others. Samson of the Old Testament killed himself (typically a sin) but did it with a noble intent: destroying the nation that wanted to wipeout his people/family. Keep in mind, Anderson was what stood between the Alucard and the other Paladins, including people that he had basically raised as his own children. His cause was ultimately well intentioned.

Even when he is falling apart, flaking in the wind he tells alucard to not weep for his passing, this was not his battle to win and he knew that when he accepted the help of a monstrous power. I believe that even if Anderson won, he would’ve hated what became of him, and when he lost he felt relieved that he did not vanquish one monster only to leave another in its place, Anderson was the greatest example of what man is capable of when they do everything they can to overcome their own weakness. I don’t believe he would have gone to hell, but his actions before his end certainly prevented his ascension to heaven

I constantly forget how good the Hellsing Ultimate English Dub is. I know some people would still call it over-acted. But you can tell these VA's were giving their all.
