My grandfather, mother myself and sister all have it. My mom passed away at 59 her dad passed away at 49, hopefully there is more ways to keep us alive longer.

My grandpa who I’ve never met had it and passed away. My mom has it and she’s lost soooo much weight. It breaks my heart! She has 4 kids now I’ve just had a son and my sister as well. Im obviously worried but this truly makes me happy that you’re close to finding a potential cure! I want to truly thank y’all for your hard work and dedication ! Bc without this information I wouldn’t be in a good place! I pray everyday that y’all find a cure! God bless all of y’all !❤️

My grandfather had Huntington’s. He lived quite long for someone that has it. My mum also has it and I do as well. It’s terrifying, the idea of me not being able to speak and being in a wheelchair is terrifying to me. Please everyone, be happy you live your life.

My mom passed away from this disease in 2009. I had the test done and im clear but my brother is now suffering with this disease. I feel it robbed my mom out of what could of been the best years of her life. We live way to far from you we live in Pennsylvania but i hope to find a good treatment for my brother to have a good rest of his life.

I Am so sorry for you, my son is at risk because it runs in my family. They don't understand how much the family pays for charity and medical bills. I was tested at 19 and it was more than 1500 dollars

Hi, I do research about Huntington's disease and I came up with a hypothesis and if it is correct, then perhaps the drug decitabine could retard the onset of H.D. Now I'm trying to find articles that describe cases of patients with Myelodysplastic syndromes and Huntington's disease, to know if they were treated with Decitabine or another inhibitor of DNA Methyltransferase, e.g. 5-azacytidine. I'm sorry that my idea even if it could retard the onset of the disease, would not reverse previous existing damages in neurons. Here it is a short explanation of my hypothesys: If a cytosine in CAG triplet repeats is transformed into a thymine, due to the methylation of carbon 5' with subsequent deamination of the nitrogenous base, then one of the three possible STOP codons would be produced; the formation of stop codons within the HTT gene would explain truncated proteins in dopaminergic neurons. The more CAG repeats, the more likely cytosines could be transformed into thymine, producing TAG codons instead of CAG codons; when the relatively slow enzymes DNA glycosylase gets overwhelmed upon a threshold of about 40 CAG triplet repeats or more, stop codons would cause proteins to be truncated. Perhaps an already existing drug that inhibits the methylation of DNA, like decitabine, could retard the onset of H.D. It seems to me that people should be tested at birth so they’re aware that they carry the gene. With people continuing to have children how will this ever end?? Does amneosentythis (sp?) check for this gene, or can it?
