As a huge Beatles fan, of course I like the original better, but I do think this is a brilliant cover nonetheless. I like the fact that Noel played it slowly because you can really appreciate the sadness in John's lyrics compared to the original. Love The Beatles and love Oasis!

This is a wonderful version of the song. Lennon wrote this as the first ever autobiographical lyrics of his life. I think, at the time, the Beatles' genre was not yet ready to sing the song like this. The original by the Beatles is still very good, but i think this is the way the song should be performed. The tempo, choice of key and amplitude of the words are perfect for the song meaning. Well done, Noel!

Definitely the tempo because the original song is actually pretty harmonically dark at some points (it switches between B minor and A major and in the B minor part they also play an E chord which resolves nicely to A but it's not in the key of Bm); Playing the song fast hides a lot of the sadness, which is why a lot of EDM songs are in minor keys but you don't see people crying in a rave lol

What's so great about this is that if you didn't know The Beatles did this song, you would have absolutely no problem believing this was an original Noel tune. Yes, The Beatles are the Beatles, but i think Noel has written songs that are right on par with anything McCartney and Lennon did. Noel is one of the best songwriters of his generation..or of any generation for that matter. And not only can he write amazing songs, he can take classic tunes and make him his own. Unbelievable. Live Forever!

One of John Lennon's first introspective songs reflecting the distress he was feeling dealing with fame and Beatlemania. The song was speeded up and made upbeat for commercial purposes. No recording of his original rendition exists. Noel's meloncoly, angst filled version is probably how John would have wanted it to sound.
