This classroom modeling segment provides demonstration of how to help students make connections within and between mathematical concepts (Ratios), content, and processes.
While it is important for teachers to make connections explicit to students, it is equally important for students to be able to make those connections themselves throughout the course of their work. "Helping students learn to make connections between various forms of mathematical knowledge, as well as between mathematics and real-life experience, is increasingly recognized as integral to effective mathematics teaching and learning." (Sawyer, 2008)
