Since blood can be found almost everywhere in the body and a variety of cells are present in blood, the clinical picture of hematological malignancies such as leukemia and lymphoma, is quite diverse. Five major disease groups are distinguishable. These include the lymphomas and acute leukemias with the two subgroups acute lymphoblastic leukemias and acute myeloid leukemias. In addition, the myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic disorders are also hematological malignancies.
