Great video. I had the exact same on 04 durango hemi motor today. I basically did the exact same troubleshooting with the constant grounding on the coil and once unplugged the pcm the circuit was open. Visual inspection did not find any issues of short in the plug so ordered a pcm. The p2302 code and a melted coil. Replaced with new coil and felt it get warm within few seconds so knew that was more issues going on. This video really helped reassure my diagnosis of the pcm being culprit.

Well done. Thanks. Had the same issue. PCM fixed it. Actually had to return the pcm and get another one because the cruise stopped working. But it’s good now.

Usually the pcm will cut the trigger power off completely when it realizes the power supply is off. The coils burning up are usually caused by a continuous power supply that doesn't get cut off from the pcm. This pcm issue is a new one for me. Frustrating also lol. This can cause a fire if the fuse doesnt blow first. Also can cause accidents by losing power if you were driving on a highway. I hope chrysler has fixed this. This should be a recall!

absolutely.. because you would have never seen the "bias voltage" that you created. had there been a short, it would have been much less than the voltage that you created (if any voltage at all). Good job for catching it yourself.

I'm having the same issue. Thanks for the video. I'm going to go over the wiring harness again tomorrow. But I think the PCM will be the culprit. I'm blowing multiple coils.

Usually the longest wire going to a coil will go bad first because it'll just wear quicker and the wind will fluctuate it and wear it down. But if you need coils and plugs anyway might as well replace them..

I have 2 separate pcm units and both throw this code so it's not my pcm.....it just popped up after putting my intake manifold back in from changing the gasketsv to solve a p0307.... now i have this NEW bull shit to deal with and I KNOW it's not my pcm. Wonder where i should start? Wiring? Or coil?

Check injector resistance, compare with other cylinders. Try swapping injectors with a neighboring one, see if code move. Try swapping ignition coils and plus with a working cylinder, see if problem move. If so, the item you change is the problem

If you followed what I did in the video, it'll be your compter. What happen in this case, the computer continuously charged the coil, burning it out. It was an internal driver problem.

@Parts shooter I’m having the exact same problem on #7 cylinder. Exact same vehicle. Where exactly to I hook up my test light and test leads for my meter also where can I get a picture of the wiring diagram that you are looking at?

@Parts shooter would it be a good idea to take the tape off the wiring harness and check the wiring from the coil?

@@partsshooter I have the same problem with my truck. Same vehicle my scan tool is telling me coil 7. I am trying to figure out how to determine if my ECM is bad or a bad wire I need to know what wire is the signal wire?? What do you mean by biased voltage?? Where do I hook up my leads and test light to figure out if one of the wires is bad or If my ECM is bad?? I’m not understanding where you hooked up your leads?? Is it more common for the ECM to go bad or is it more likely that one of the wires to be broken from the ECM to the coil??

@@partsshooter I get the p2320 code without starting the truck when I erase the codes I have replaced the coil and the spark plug and plug wire . Could it be the PCM or a bad electrical wire from PCM and coil
