Wow! Just watched the later HEMS LONDON specials, and this one, even though 1993 reminds me of the '70s!

I'm a (non-emergency) doctor and I've seen some of these doctors in action, both on the roadside and in A&E Resus, and they're outstanding..it really is a good thing to bring them to the patient's side as there are things they can do e.g. chest surgery that paramedics can't. Briliant.

@Emsworker68. Most of the DRs on HEMS have been or are surgeons / A+E(ER) consultants and have been known to do surgery in the street such as amputations and even in some cases opening the pt's chest, things that a CCP can only dream of doing. Hope this helps

What is the purpose of risking the helicopter and crew to make such a dangerous landing and then transport by ground? You could have delivered the physican by sprint car and not spend as much money or endanger the community with a risky air operation.

@havoc999998. "They have to know 60+ Medications, and different types of procedures such as Surgical Airways, Intubation" What you mean like a UK paramedic has to? " stop comparing Medics to Doctors. A Paramedic can handle any type of emergency just fine. I'm not denying that. But can any para regardless of country open a patients chest or amputate on scene etc? NO didn't think so
