That design rifle was originally made by Erma werk from Germany in the 60’s into the 80’s. When Erma went out of business the family that currently owns the Henry company bought the design rights and started producing the h001 as their first product. Cool Eli, I just posted a video that will fit this new class just fine. It was with my Marlin Model 60 squirrel rifle. I had really worked on this one last year to get it tuned in by testing all kinds of HP hunting ammo. So I wanted to see how it did with this challenge. I have a Barska 3-9 x32 scope on it and yes, it is hard to see the targets at 50 yards, but I managed. I'll send you a link to the video and picture of the target. Thanks for the video as always.

Thanks for setting us up with an airgun version. 25 yards in an airgun is pretty equivalent to 50 yards in a rimfire. Except for the high dollar custom PCP’s they need to do 50 in an open class!

@@WalnutandSteel I am not sure with PCP. The Avenger is sub 5. Airacunda is sub 5. Gauntlet is sub 5. All will take out a 25 yards target like this pretty readily. Plus there is the cost of a fill source with PCP. So it is not really inexpensive to me.

Your lack of clarity is most likely from the fixed parallax of your centerfire scope. It is probably set for over 100 yards. You need a rimfire scope because the fixed parallax rimfire scopes are set for around 60 yards.
@magsuperd

Yes, I was wondering the same thing if that was a centerfire scope. Very likely to be the cause of the blurry targets, and doesn't necessarily help with accuracy either.

I love Henry Rifles. I think you might be on to something trying blazer . Some of those classic rifle designs do better with bulk blazer or other higher velocity ammos . I’m not sure why . But I got an old Browning SA 22 that likes the cheap stuff better . Pellet rifles have come a long way . My dad bought me one and also a steel trap . I used to shoot it in my basement for practice . 58 years later, I still have it 😊. It’s a lot less expensive for ammo and just as much fun imo … think about it Billy 👍🏼

Thanks for the vid, partner! Never seen a Henry rimfire shoot particularly tight. I own a Frontier model H001 (octagonal barrel), but despite trying over twenty different types of ammo in mine, I usually see 1" to 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards (benched, open sights) with ammo is likes. I've not tried match ammo, but mine likes Aguila 38 grain subsonic hollowpoints best of what I HAVE tried, and they work great for pest control.

Yes they weren't mean to be bench rifles. As a matter of fact some says the accuracy on a lever is screwed up from placing the front stock on a rest. Many are adamant that it should only contact the body.

@@Dayattherange Agree about them not being a bench gun. I've tried resting them on the receiver, the forend, and the magazine tube, and haven't seen any dramatic difference in group size. I'm guessing because we all use high power scopes in the 18× and up, for the Sportsmans class maybe it should be moved up to 25 yards while using 10× and less. Especially to get the beginners in the game! Those types of scopes rarely have an adjustable parallax, which makes it even more challenging!
