Thanks for taking a look at our new Homesteader 9mm, we certainly appreciate your support! Regarding the H027's hand-guard sounding "hollow", this is by design. There's a reciprocating mass within the walnut forearm that helps to cycle the bolt, and is integral to the blowback action. Hope this clears things up!

I'm happy with my Homesteader. I mounted a Romeo 5 red dot optic on the riffle, and consistently hit the bullseye of a target 50 yards away. It breaks down easy for cleaning, and is pretty enough to hang on my bedroom wall.

Generally the "tactical" stuff does have practical applications (lighter weight and accessory mounting options) but being in my mid 40s, I'm old enough to appreciate the classic/retro looking firearms. My first firearm 24 years ago was a Kimber Custom 1911 that I still have so I'm definitely a .45ACP advocate as well. That said, I did jump on the 9mm bandwagon about 3 years ago but I went with Sig instead of Glock. Most of the PCC have Glock mag compatibility but few have the Sig P320 mag option EXCEPT for the Henry. At least not ones that are below $1000. Hell, even that high end Sig PCC, the MPX, doesn't take Sig P320 mags but instead take some proprietary 30 rd mag. Regardless, I don't have $2000 for a MPX. The Henry Homesteader, while more expensive than the Ruger, S&W or Keltec PCC options, at least I won't have to invest in a new stockpile of magazines to shoot that damn thing if/when I decide to get one.

The four round mag is probably made because most states only allow up to five round magazines for deer hunting. Its actually a pretty cool idea that henry did that because some people have to modify their larger magazines in other PCCs to make them legal for hunting.

I agree. Henry makes great firearms. In my experienced opinion, if you spend $100 on a weapon and you're able to sight it in properly and it fires every time you pull the trigger, it was a good buy. Price, or even country of origin ( I dont care how much of a patriot you are, Im as red blooded as they come) should not the deciding factor. Reliability and performance are what counts.

Ambidextrous safety & charging handle , drilled & tapped for optics, threaded for a suppressor, & mag wells to accept sidearm magazines (just not yours , I have that issue also). It's nice to see that instead of making just another deadly automatic weapon the gun companies are finally creating secure guns that are totally harmless thanks to that brown colored safety device known as "wood". Imagine how many lives could be lost if the gun was all black and got chambered in a military or assault style cartridge.
