Turning your back to the audience almost all the time is a really Miles Davis-thing to do. But I can understand it from a band-members type of view - you want to connect and interact with your bandmates more than with the audience, sometimes. This was probably in Paradiso (a former church BTW) and I can smell the weed-fumes from here. And yes I'm Dutch too, and no I don't smoke anything, and yes I do go to Paradiso once in a while. Where smoking has been banned for a while. I mostly make the trip from Rotterdam when Dinosaur Jr. play there. ;-)

Opening track from Never Never Land, the 1971 debut album from the Pink Fairies. They were one of the best of the UK's underground hippy bands, often playing for free on the same bill as Hawkwind. Not really Punk (5 years too early, and they were very hairy people) but a major influence on Punk because of their uncompromising DIY attitude. Nearest US comparison would be the MC5, another big influence. Whole album is an underground classic. Do your ears a favour. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2Ginn3p_nntkhqw

The first time I saw the Rollins Band was when I was like 10 or 11 and they played Saturday Night Live. Being totally honest I thought it was horrible, firstly the music just didn't do anything for me but of course Henry steals the stage with no shoes or shirt pacing back anf forth until he sang and the words seemed barked. When I got into punk rock a year later I was surprised to see that that singer from the Rollins Band was an old school Hardcore punk rock legend. I never have enjoyed his singing I think his voice sucks for singing but I think he's funny as hell with a lot of great opinions. He's definitely a character, his appearance in Wrong Turn 3 was amazing😅. ROLLINS for President 2028
