I met Henry Rollins at a in-store appearance at Moby Disc, Sherman Oaks, Ca. shortly after Joe was killed. I brought my copy of ‘Hot Animal Machine’ LP and asked if he could write something ‘insightful’ on the back cover. He wrote ‘The only break you get is that you get to go on’. Looking back now I would’ve never asked him for ANYTHING after the tragedy he just went through but he was like a mentor me back then. Thank you, Henry. 🙏

This is way more tragic than even the amazing Henry Rollins can describe in words. The fact that a situation that was just “wrong place wrong time” makes me so angry and I’m just writing this in the dark but feeling it in my heart. I’ve not lost a friend like that nor even been in that harrowing situation myself but I have like a lot of you down here lost a friend. In the six or so months of meeting her. From about halloween to Christmas and a few months beyond I had a girl that asked if I’d come to a Halloween party that night when I got off work. I said hell yeah I’m in. Later I got to know her and had a great time. About Christmas of 2013 I think it was or 2014 I message her and ask how’s it going? She doesn’t answer. I see a Vine of her with her family and they look happy. She looked….happy. But only those truly close to her knew something was up. I remember going to her house shortly after the Doctor Who 50th anniversary with Day of the Doctor playing in theaters. She blew off a dear friend to have me come over. It was quite honestly the most amazing night of my young life. I thought that it would be like that forever. I drew a picture of a Tardis in a vortex for her and was gonna give it to her the next time I see her. Months fall off with little to no communication other than the occasional hi I miss you and all that. Long story short it comes time to celebrate another Doctor Who anniversary or rather the anniversary of that anniversary lol. I hear the most heart breaking news I’ve ever heard. She’s killed herself. I’m so haunted by that day I spent with her that it’s the ghost that haunts me. The experience. I can’t forget it. And nor can I let it go. It was around the same time I had been invited by some friends to go bowling that just before I heard that news I went and she messaged me to come over. It’s one of those moments where you can’t forgive yourself yet you know that it had to be something seriously wrong. I never got to give her the drawing. Nor tell her how I felt. The time that both had was brief. It still important to me. Anytime I hear that another young life has been taken either by someone else or their own hand. It truly is like losing that friend all over again. And I have blamed myself for not going to see her and regret not telling her the things I wanted to. It sounds cliche but cherish those around you. The time you have is over in a blink. And for some even shorter. I miss her still. I’m married and the person I went bowling with is now my wife. I don’t regret the choice but the guilt I feel is so much like I could have stopped it from happening. It’s almost as if to me the date it happened was in direct relation to me as it was from Doctor Who we connected. I’ll never really know. That is what haunts me.

Imagine getting a 911 call and showing up to that sh*t-show, being the officers that have to keep the community safe with no story as to what happened ? They hold who they got because they don't know motives and what actually happened, but someone will expect them to have answers in a presser to keep the rest of society safe & calm. And how many do they have to get, day to day, before the procedure becomes routine for something they can't change & do anything about beyond catch the murderer(s) and solve the crime. Oh & anyone they are fortunate enough to get a lead from in the case, they have to sift thru fact & fantasy, the truth & the lies, as they piece together why anyone would kill another and want a tv & vcr instead of flat out doing someone in their living room. LAPD or most any do a remarkable job considering they don't get a great situation dropped into their laps.

I think you need to watch KZitem released domestic 911 calls that involve gun violence before you pity card with the framed victims. The police didn't want to go to that address, they were called there because someone was being an asshole. And the body cams usually reveal the police being shot at first. Even as police officers, they shouldn't be expected to take the first casualty of the encounter. LAPD showed up, started to do their job which is to get the killers. Devoid of anyone else around they have to secure the public safety at the same time. Sorry it seemed callous, but at the same time, they have a bigger responsibility to the community.
@yodaguy6956

@@jimcamp2423 the fact that they would sit there and launch gat slurs at a guy who just went through that is pretty indicative of the attitude they likely carry throughout the day. No one denies police have a tough job, but that never justifies police misbehavior. We've had serious problems with bad cops for years and the system does almost nothing to address it, so until the bulk of good cops actually stand up and speak out publicly against bad cops, they don't deserve any special recognition because they are helping perpetuate continuing serious violations of people's rights .

Read "Watch a grown man cry, now watch him die".. it's a great but extremly hard book to read: If anything I think Henry suffered from survivors guilt- he made it, Joe did not.

This is sick how the Cops handled this. Shows they have no humanity at all. His best friend was murdered and they showed no compassion at all. I like Henry. He seems like a great guy. Sad this happened to him.

Gotta remember they see a lot of lying sacks of shit that kill people. Until they know, it’s the smartest thing to do to detain a person who’s The only sure witness. BTW: did they ever find the killer? One awful story.

Listen carefully...in this version he admits making a break for the house, then rear door (because he "KNEW they would be executed inside/only had 45 seconds to live...🤔"), whereupon his buddy is executed...and they shot at Hank a couple times as he was escaping (bullet holes in door jamb), then fled.

Who thinks that? Why would Henry ever do that? Henry isn't a killer, and I doubt he knows how to shoot very well.

adebisi poo he's an idiot for saying he doesn't think he killed him? Damn dude, ease up a little. There's obviously been conspiracies about his involvement in Cole's death, you're both on the same side lol
