My brother is staying with me having this disease. It’s HORRIBLE! He lies to me about taking his lactolise and the ammonia builds in his brain and he gets mean, confused, falls and is just a hot mess. I can’t even remind him anymore to take it because he lies or tells. I count his bottles and know HES NOT TAKING IT! I want to be there for him but it’s effecting my health and well being now. What do I do?

I had HE. I was in hospital with stage 4 liver cirrhosis. I was luckily admitted fast and unfortunately spent 5 months in hospital. I would recommend him going straight into A&E his bloods should show how serious it is. I was fully yellow. Although I wasn’t in a physical comba I was not there AT all. Completely unaware and have no memory. I am now a year sober, 27 and on medication for my health. I’m luckily able to speak well again and functioning. I’ve just been told I am well enough and am no longer in need of a transplant. Might be an idea to put the lacto in something? I’ve always taken it but in hospital I was basically wired up with all sorts so everything was done via a drip.

@@georginablackwell7122 Glad your story turned around for the better! Your story gives me hope. My dad has cirrhosis, he was back to normal and out of the hospital but he suddenly worsened. I was out of town and came back, it's been 5 days he is now talking almost normally but it was super scary at first. The doctors are saying something different 24/7. How can he go from alright to needing a transplant in 2 weeks?

Hi I had a very dear friend who.had HE. It is very hard. Take one day at a time. You will get to a stage where you will have to dispense his meds to him otherwise he may overdose. Its a very sad and cruel condition.
