Róża Zawadzka was a liaison officer of the Armia Krajowa (Home Army) and a co-worker of Irena Sendler during the World War II. She saved Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto and placed them into secure shelter on the “Aryan side”. She died in September 1944 during the Warsaw Uprising. In the last letter to her husband, she wrote: “My entire life I had loved Poland, Ewa and you. She is much alike I. This will help you to bring her up”. We present the account of Róża Zawadzka’s daughter, Ewa Wańkowicz, from the collection of oral history of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
